These thirteen 1971-1972 cheerleaders support football, soccer, ice hockey, basketball and en- tered statewide competitions. Cheerleadering, un- like a sport, does not end with a season but con- tinues throughout the year. After tryouts, they learn more formations, cheers, stunts, mounts, improving techniques and new ideas. They cheer at pep rallies to encourage spectators but their main function is to support and represent Bedford teams with all the spirit and enthusiasm they have. 1 The r aped outH.-ttteftjctt pe - TUe pass, I pa aMq i e LL See v 5 beaut ' ifuL to Me Legislative Go AiWitt€e LEGISLATIVE COMMITTEE: ROW 1-Mrs. Hattie Goodman, Mrs. Carol Frenier, Karin Chisefsky, Greg Winter, Mr. Brendan Desilets. ROW 2— Mr. Bernand Gollis, C. J. Melanson, Chuck DePriest, Kay Forte, William Rhine, Mr. Walter Powers, Nancy Bergin, Robin Winslow. In the spring of 1971, Bedford High introduced a new concept of student government. At this Constitution Conven- tion there evolved a new constitution that included the for- mation of two governing bodies: the Student-Faculty Court and The Legislative Committee. The basic concept was equal representation between students and teachers, a system that has not before been attempted. The Legislative Committee consisted of nine students and nine faculty elected by their peers. Those elected were: Stu- dents— Karin Chisefsky, Bill Hoo, Robin Winslow, Chuck De- Priest, William Rhine, Robyn Del Real, Greg Winter, Nancy Bergin, Greg Smith, Kay Forte and Jim Lewis (alternate); and faculty: Mr. Spinosa, Mrs. Goodman, Mrs. Frenier, Mr. McCar- thy, Mr. Phinney, Mr. Powers, Mr. Webber, Mr. Pavlosky, Mr. Ambrose, and Mr. Melanson (alternate). This Year ' s committee had the responsibility of forming school policies related to open campus and setting up the procedures for use at regu- lar meetings. The sub-committees attended Northeast Regional Council meetings and will try to elect four of its members to the State Board of Education. Successfully putting the Consti- tution on its feet, the committee served a needed purpose. The Student-Faculty Court also had the responsibility of es- tablishing a firm ground that future courts could rely on. Its powers consisted of handling grievances filed by students or teachers and interpreting the constitution while deciding the outcome of a case. These cases may concern students, teach- ers, or school policies. Organizing the procedures and mak- ing the judgements were four students and four faculty elected by the school at large. These students were Peter Bolduc, Kehne Moeller, Suzanne Moore, and Leslie Riembach. The faculty members were Mr. Lewis, Moderator; Mrs. Pelle- grini, Secretary; Mr. Donovan, and Mr. Sabourin. This court allowed increasing participation in determining the outcome of issues that affect their school lives. 7 • ! 0- 1 i£ ! j I D tr 3 - 1 u o o r cA 5 m C s v— 4 I J o ° 5 i i ■s r o f c h •q n Q J 6 c _ -J O 1 c l0 c id L 1 (i . s •J tr ' 3 •n ?- C o qE — -o en - r) j c ° N t % « -2 c h £ O 5 ' J s •j c ? - c c J J? vo Lt .4 z -rc j3 1 1 1 V o O c C r .2 -1 ' j k 2 c: cr ,.•3 j a: c c rS C (Y c s 3 — V 0 r 1 c ID 33 i a c o ■i 7 c c r -C -J i o w c ( - -c C J t3 2 3 2 1 CO 3 - ) d ■-j J: a ' £ r • ) -9 i s L 4 F JL b a: I J I A «5 1 j r tt 4 a in £3 a 89 JF Herein iNes % ir- Interred Ve Hor ilj tal remains of thefe I Dpupfcus tuttle Fascia 3cu1Kj Glenn Boireair ! You can ' t fight it until you find it. Sometimes it ' s as easy as analyzing a beaker of water. Other times a complete ecological study is required. Right now, on rivers and lakes, along coastlines, Raytheon scientists are using a variety of techniques to determine precisely where pollution exists, or will exist. Once it ' s found, automatic monitoring systems and equipment from Raytheon provide continual analysis of water quality. Helping people get the drop on water pollution is just one of the ways Raytheon technology is working for better living today. Raytheon Company Lexington, Massachusetts 02173. iJBlEBi El
