fa Memory of . . PRESIDENT JOHN FITZGERALD KENNEDY May 29, 1917— November 22, 1963 On November 22, 1963, the citizens of the United States — indeed the citizens of the whole world — lost a great friend and leader, President John Fitzgerald Kennedy. This was probably the greatest tragedy and heaviest sense of emptiness that any of us in the class of 1964 have ever experienced. In the eyes of the world, here was an unbelievably great man. But possibly this feeling of emptiness is uppermost in the hearts of the teenagers of our coun- try. Here was the youngest president ever elected to that office. He was a vibrant, shining personality who pursued all his works with youthful enthusiasm. Only the words of God could express our grief at this loss so close to our hearts. But let us not live in the past, wishing that our beloved president be brought back to life through some great miracle. Rather let us look into the future, for upon graduating in June, we, the class of ' 64, shall become that future. And should one of us succeed this great man — an awesome thought indeed — we humbly express the desire that he pattern himself after Mr. Kennedy, that he carry out faithfully and successfully all those things through which Mr. Ken- nedy ' s inspiration we know ought to be done: always being loyal to our country, its purposes, and its Constitution; upholding liberty, religious freedom, and equality for all. John E. Klemack Member of the Class of 1964 2
