 A Delta Airlines jetliner crashed near Dallas in August, killing 137 people The plane was on a flight from Fort Lauder- dale, Florida to Los Angeles with an in- termediate stop at Dallas-Fort Worth Thirty-four people survived the crash but five died of injuries later A resident of Armero in the Co- lumbia mountains is helped by the Columbian Red Cross during digging out efforts. Many people were trapped in the mud. In the rescue, hundreds of volunteers helped. The explosion of the space shuttle Challenger, which killed all seven crew members, devastated the entire nation.
