HOMEMAKING One of the important courses in the High School is the Vocational Home Economics Department, It teaches girls who wish to become wives in the future how to sew, cook, decorate a home and many other things. One of the most vital instructions is how to handle a budget. Everyone knows how hard it is to maintain a good household with the expenses of today. But where there is a will, there is a way and you certainly learn the way . Here the girls are taught the parts of electrical devices in the home. Everyone knows a lot of a woman's time is spent at a stove preparing the nourishing meals. The furniture in the department is just like at home. Here a few girls are taking it easy. HOMEMAKING ln this picture the girls are pinning a pattern on material. Then they will cut the pattern out. They are in the process of making a garment for them- selves. Learning to sew often saves much money for the homemakers. Another advantage is to have different clothes from other people. If you sew for yourself, you also know that no one else will have the same kind of outfit. The girls are taught to make dresses, skirts, blouses, robes, and many other articles. In the picture shown here the girls are pinning material on a screen. They learn to cover many things over to make it practically new. Such things as pillows can also be covered if they get soiled or become worn or if a change is desired.
