Sports Football September 8, 1961 Our B. C. I. Wolves opened their first full season of grid action in twenty-five years at Lilly. The first half proved to be exciting by a 7-6 Lilly halftime score. Lilly rallied for 14 points in the second half, this resulting in a 21-6 B. C. I. setback. September 16, 1961 Our boys, slightly depressed by the loss to Lilly, next encountered the West Branch junior varsity at home. Al- though we lost, for the rest of the season, our top quarterback, Larry Bloom, the charges of coach Dick Dean rolled to a 28-O win over the Warriors. The fine running of Fred Mowchan, Jim Peacock, and Ronnie Bolinger paced the victory. September 23, 1961 The next clash for the Wolfpack came at Irvona where we played host to Black Lick. In this game we lost our top ground gainer thus far this season, fullback Fred Mowchan, who suffered a broken nose. After this, the second serious injury to our backfields, the boys played harder than they ever did before. Our defense was good, but our offense could not seem to move the ball. The game was hard fought, which the score did not show, but we couldn't overcome the experience of the boys from Black Lick, This 27-0 was our second defeat. September 29, 1961 Next our boys journeyed to Reynoldsville, meeting the Falcons under the lights in the first night game in our history. The Falcons tallied 46 points to our 6. Jim Stiffler scored our lone touchdown with two minutes remaining in the game. After the game, the atmosphere changed from signal-calling to friendly conversation in the school cafeteria, where both teams met and were served refreshments. October 14, 1961 Our eleven next met Gallitzen on our own turf, but because of our many injuries encountered this year, we were unable to cope with the hard driving Gremlins. The final look at the scoreboard showed us the underdogs, being upset 33-0. October 21, 1961 Again we took to the road playing Northern Bedford on their home field. Northern Bedford's experience proved to be the trick in showing our boys a 53-6 setback. Our new quarterback, Ron Bolinger, pushed across our only score. November 4, 1961 Our spirits were high for the final game of the season, as we were hosts to Penns Valley High. We played one of our better games of the season, despite the 26-O defeat. Our defense was good, but again our offense needed improvement. We are looking forward to a better record next year through the benefits of this year's experience and the fine coaching of Richard Dean and Cyrus Kepple. Basketball Last year our team won the Moshannon Valley Championship. This year with a schedule of twenty games and all the new talent on the team, we expect to do as well. GOOD LUCK BOYS. Left to Right: SITTING--Doris Zupich, Jennie Substitutes: Left to Right--Margaret Freeman, Kephart. KNEELING--Karen Noel, Linda Cunning- Lillda MOOHCY- ham, Debbie Maines, Pat Clarkson.
