Sophomore News Well, after nine years of hard work we finally made it. Sophomores! As our first official business , we elected class officers. The following were chosen: Cla s s Officers Patty McNulty ----- President Peg Hahn ----------- Vice President Doris Knotts --------- Treasurer Iudy McCartney ----- Secretary Student Council Officers Ioyce Orrick Larry Belin Carol Roland Iohn Stasik To start off the year's mad social whirl, our class advisors , Mrs. Burmeister, Miss Airhart, and Mr. Philips, accepted our idea concerning a Thanksgiving dance. After the holidays the winter passedso quickly with various school activities that we soon realized it was April. In the springfso goes the old sayingl a young man's fancy lightly turns to thoughts of love. So, always willing to cooperate , the obliging tenth graders gave a skating party to offer these young mentan opportunity to expound this adage. After providing the boys with a skating party, in all fairness we needed something for the girls. Since they are always so neat and pretty, we decided on a slop hop, thus proving there are two sides to everything. As old, sloppy outfits were called for, the dance was more slop than hop. All in all, we had a fine year. Because we made such an impression on some teachers, they may want a few of us to come back for a return engagement. We watch the Seniors enviously as they graduate with our best wishes and congratulations.

Junior Class Ifstory In September of 1955 , we began our school year as enthusiastic Freshmen. At Olll' first class meeting we elected our class officers: Kathy Shrock, Presidentp Bob Phillips, Vice-Presidentp Patricia Warholic, Secretary: Bonnie Bloom, Treasurer. During our first year, we were veritable busy bees . Our biggest project was a bake sale which was a tremendous success. Other activities included several skating parties and candy sales. Outstanding among all these was our trip to Gettysburg, Harrisburg, and Hershey, an event that climaxed our Freshman year. While we were , of course, vitally concerned with all these things , we were equally concerned with choosing our class colors of pink and black , and receiving our class hats as well as our class emblems. Soon we were entering Senior High and found it much different from junior High. We started the year by selecting these class officers: President .............. Kathy Shrock Secretary . . . . . joyce Grimes Vice-President ........... Bonnie Bloom Treasurer ......... Marilyn Ninosky Student Council Representatives. . .Ioyce Grimes , Patricia Warholic , Tom Holjencin , and jim Rea. Our class advisors were Mrs. Gorman and Mrs. Brady. During this year we held a skating party and the Christmas Dance. However, we considered the Sock Hop , which we also sponsored, as probably the outstanding activity. Perhaps this was because it was a little different from the usual type of dance, or maybe it was because dancing in our socks, while a little unique , meant more work for mother or the automatic washer. Following the precedent of our freshman and sophomore years , we realized that our first consideration was to elect class officers. ln our junior year these were as follows: President . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Kathy Shrock Secretary. . . . . . Beverly Hadden Vice-President . . . . . . . . . . . Bob Phillips Treasurer ...... Sandra Seabolt Student Council Representatives. . .joyce Grimes , Evelyn Vanish, jim Rea , and David Shaffer. Our class advisors were Mrs. Gorman, Mr. Dean, and Mr. Bearer. just before Christmas we received our class rings. Highlighting our activities this year were a New Year's Semi-Formal Dance and the junior Prom , held on May 9. Music for the prom was provided by the Ray Sharbaugh Quartet and the theme was Canadian Sunset . This theme was extremely helpful in overcoming the obstacle presented by the bleachers. Since these bleachers could not be hidden, the ingenious juniors disguised them as mountains. The prom went off very successfully due to the eagerness and hard work of the whole class. Now, approaching our own senior year, we would like to turn our thoughts to this graduating class, as we extend to them best wishes for luck and success in the future. '
