Early in l946 the union board authorized the purchase of tive White buses, Actual delivery was rnade possible in August through the eitorts ot Iarnes Schurrnan, Eugene Duncan, George Gordon, Sr., Archie Zimlorick Everett Morgan and Melvin Beeler who tlew east and drove the buses to Oregon. To these men and the school board who added another step toward the goal of an efficient and modern school system the statt dedicates this l947 Beaver. DICATION

r Wells, Kurtz, Lazuck, Schurman, and Smith pose Mr, Iarnes Schurman att their ea ly morning run. pervises the buses. TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT Six bus drivers covered a total ot l25 miles morning and night to transport an approximate 300 students to and from school each day. ln additin to these daily trips the buses were made available for interscholastic activities. Athletic teams were taken to sched- uled games, student spectators were accommodated, the glee club, debate teams and band were furnished transportation when it was needed. lt is estimated that the aggregate mileage of all the buses would top forty-tive thousand miles for the year. Men who assisted Mr. Iames Schurman, the superintendent ot transportation, were: Mr. Melvin Wells, Mr. W. C. Kurtz, Mr. Paul Lazuck, Mr. Everett Morgan, Mr. Duane Kingsley, Mr. Glenn Hollar, and Mr. Virgil Smith.
