Beaverton Ore I i M 'H MSA on Debut '7 o ' : ll Etzfm- LAURENE MAYFIELD The deadline-that hour of feverish activity when hard- pressed reporters pray for inspiration-was met nine times during the year, resulting in nine Hummers worthy of an alert, conscientious staff. Fired by the enthusiasm of Laurent- Mayfield, editor-in-chief, and associate editors Bill Duhaimehlean Godwin, and Ruth Van Kleek, the stall entered into scrihbling, copyreading, and ad- collecting with gusto. The boundless zeal of Miss Barnes, advisor, was reflected in the work of each reporter. Laboring to keep the Hummer on an even keel were Lois Blair and Dian Krieske, business managers for the nrst and second semesters, Under the editorsliip of Ray Pointer, the sports page was enlivened with a more generous sprinkling of sports jargon. Betty Ann Nulsen, Esther Sandstrom, and Shirley Greene penned 21 newsy column, Keeping in Touch with our Yankee Docdls Dandies, kept complicated Hles of service-men's ad- dresses, and sent Hummers to them.
