Text from Pages 1 - 184 of the 1969 volume:

The gleaming smiles of the great white hunters are reflected in the showcase, housing the beaver Jack and Dan deLeon trapped. They snared this magnificent specimen and presented it to Beaverhead County High School during special ceremonies. 1969 BEAVER BEAVERHEAD COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL DILLON, MONTANA Dedication TO JULES WENGER: Soldiers on battlefields are awarded honors for service to their country. The students of Beaverhead County High School are awarding an honor to you for thirty years of distinguished and meritorious service to our school. Your dedication to your work has always been beyond the call of duty and in the realm of tender loving care. We will all miss your kindness and friendship. Forgive us for our careless acts — mud in the halls, the pencil marks on the walls, and the gum in the drinking fountains. Instead, remember our grati- tude and affection. 2 THE STUDENT BODY NEW STRUCTURE OFFERS MULTIPLE USES Through these new portals will pass thousands of students interested in athletics, science, and music, as well as the avid sports' fans of the area. This building, in its infancy has realized only a few months of passing feet; but, as the years progress, will prove to be one of Dillon's most-utilized centers. On the following pages -- and throughout this yearbook publication -- the highly functional and equally-attractive Music, Science and Physical Education Building forms a proud backdrop for student activities. Mr. Tom Clemow, Mr. Lester Jones, Mr. John Burwell, Mrs. Margaret Hagenbarth (resigned), Mrs. Josephine Eudaily, county superintendent of schools; Principal B. W. Lodge; STANDING: Dr. Warren Monger, and Mr. Paul Stahl, Jr. School Board Guides Administration The intricate problems of drawing up blueprints for the administration of our school system are placed before the school board. The task of solving such problems as forming policies, maintaining the large plant, and of finding the funds to keep the school functioning makes many demands on these unselfish, dedicated people. In addition to these tasks, the governing board of Beaverhead County High School has the time-consuming chore of screening and hiring new teachers. Meeting once a month, the school board constitutes an integral force toward continued success of the BCHS operation. 6 Every person needs faith in himself, in his fellow man, and in God. Without faith the individual is very limited in what he will accomplish. He has to believe strongly enough in himself to know that he can do whatever he sets out to do. Without this faith he is defeated before he ever starts. In his relationship with others, man has to have faith in his associates, his neighbors and friends. Once in a while someone will be- tray that faith and let us down, but this does not happen often enough to warrant an across-the- board loss of faith in humanity. Man is a spiritual being, and he needs the leveling in- fluence of the faith in the guiding hand of a devine being. In the words of the young people of today KEEP THE FAITH. Best of Luck, PRINCIPAL B. W. LODGE Administrators Prepare Students For Future Life To the Graduating- Class of 1969: As Seniors, you must be equipped to protect and guide the children of tomorrow as well as you, the children of yesterday, were pro- tected and guided by your community. You must use your knowledge and your skills to strengthen and enrich your nation so that those who come after you shall have as good a chance as was given to you. Upon you, who go out into the world, falls the responsibility of doing for others what was done for you. May you do so honorably and with the help of God. Best wishes to each and everyone of you. ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL GILE MITCHELL 7 MRS. RUTH WENGER Secretary Who could manage without Mrs. Wenger? Thespians Present Unique Plays A hilarious melodrama, DIRTY WORK AT THE CROSSROADS, started off this year's dramatic program. This play combined the best talents of Beaverhead County High School actors and actresses. In the traditional melodrama manner, good triumphed over evil as the hero rescued the heroine from the wicked clutches of the villain and his notorious lady friend. Assisting the hero were a pair of country yokels. This ambitious double- casting was an experiment which was applauded by all theatre-going fans. An all-girl cast highlighted the production of CRY HAVOC, a stirring drama depicting the lives of the fighting nurses stationed on the Bataan Peninsula during World War II.
