PLAYS Lured Large Student Casts During the school year the Dramatics Club presented two three-act plays— On The Night of January 16th and The Curious Savage. The fall production On the Night of January 16th depicted the trial of Karen Andre a secretary accused of slaying her boss and lover. This play was different in that the jurors were selected from the audience. The spring production, The Curious Savage, was the story of a mother, Ethel, committed by her children to the Cloisters to keep her from spending the family fortune on a memorial fund that she had established, and where she met the gentle people who lived in a world of make believe. A series of one-act plays were produced during the year. The Valiant was chosen to be presented at the District Speech and Drama Meet held at Bozeman. This is the story of James Dyke, a man condemned to death and Josephine Paris, who believed him to be her lost brother. Other one-act plays included Three Pills in a ' Bottle, a children's story of Tony Sims, a boy who helped three people's souls by giving them the pill that he was to take to cure himself of a fever; When Shakespeare's Ladies Meet, a mixture of old and new when five heroines of Shakespeare's plays come to advise Juliet of her love affair with Romeo—instead Juliet advises them and To Bum a Witch , the story of two girls, Mary and Ruth, accused of witchcraft and of the betrayal of friendship. 7 .
