PRINCIPAL B. W. LODGE You, the graduates of this year, stand at the beginning of a new phase in your life. What lies ahead is known as the time of maturity. Dur- ing the next decade or so, the development of your character, per- sonality, and ability will be the true test of your maturity. The most important mark of maturity is responsibility. First and foremost, we mean acceptance of the duty to take care of oneself, not to lean on others in the total dependence of childhood, to take pride in being self-supporting, to face realistically the necessity for work and not to indulge in idle hopes that good luck, inspiration or talent will see you through. Good luck, ADMINISTRATORS Kept School Functioning Smoothly To the Seniors: Students who are leaders climb as high as they can for the vision of the heights. I hope that for many of you seniors this day is not the end but the beginning of a still greater advance in life. May this be a true commence- ment for you, the beginning of a new phase of learning. May you climb upward on the ladder of education, aiming for new heights of knowledge and bring back to us the vision of new and greater ideas. May you rise to the very top of your chosen field as the leaders of tomorrow. Best of luck to each and every one of the seniors of the 1968 graduating class of Beaverhead County High School. Best regards. 7 ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL CILE MITCHELL

SEATED: Mr. Tom Clemow, Mr. Lester Jones, Mr. John Burwell, Mrs. Margaret Hagenbarth, Mrs. Josephine Eudaily, Principal B. W. Lodge; STANDING: Dr. Warren Monger, and Mr. Paul Stahl, Jr. SCHOOL BOARD Planned New Additions The Beaverhead County High School Board, comprised of industrious and distinguished Beaverhead County residents, volunteered its time and effort freely to insure the finest of educational facilities for students at BCHS. This board was responsible for construction of our new Music, Science and Physical Education building, designed by Campeau and Crennan of Helena. Despite a strike called by Butte Carpenters Union on this $800, 000 project, Contractor Dan Ibey has surmounted this obstacle and it will be in use this year --as scheduled. The School Board also prepared the annual budget, hired teachers, and is certainly deserving of our gratitude for its efforts in continually better- ing the quality of education offered at Beaverhead County High School. Dr. Monger was chairman of the board; John Burwell, vice chairman; Paul Stahl, Jr., secretary; and Toke Contway, clerk. 6

DON SMITH, JULES WENGER, and JIM ABBAS MRS. RUTH WENGER Custodians Jules and Don, our two industrious custodians, along with the assistance of Jim, were seen sweeping, dusting, and polishing during the school year. Although students left the school in disorder each day, they would come back the next morning to find every- thing in tip-top shape. Secretary Mrs. Ruth Wenger, Beaverhead County High School's able secretary, meets each day's demands with patience and efficiency. She performs her many secretarial duties with a cheerful smile. Mrs. Wenger is often seen at the mimeograph machine, running off tests, programs, and other school materials. Bus Drivers This capable and responsible corps of bus drivers provided the man power to drive the many buses that are needed to transport Beaverhead County High School's numer- ous rural students to school eacy day. They also took the students to many out-of- town sports events and other activities. Emerson Selway, bus maintenance man and foreman, gave much time and energy to keep the buses in excellent condition. Emerson Selway, James Harper, Don Rude, Robert Sawyer, Don Smith, Jerry Stone, Don Boeut, Richard Wenger, Russell Black, and Stan Chalich.
