FHA Hosted District II Convention The Dillon Chapter of FHA, an organization farthering interest in Home Economics, worked toward two state programs this year -- ’’Citizenship Challenges You” and ’’Individuality Counts.” The FHA sponsored numerous activities, including the serving of the annual FFA Parent-Son Banquet; serving for the FFA Greenhand Initiation; a scavenger hunt; a bingo party at Parkview Acres; helping the FFA decorate the school for Christmas; helping the local Heart Drive Chairman with a high school drive; Mother’s Day Tea and Style Show; 21st Birthday Celebration of FHA in honor of all past BCHS members of FHA; putting up a bulletin board in recognition of all the na- tional holidays during the school year; and, perhaps the most important job of all, being hostess group for the District II Convention. In March, the local chapter was represented at the State Convention in Great Falls, with theme ”21 Years - Foundation for Progress;” five delegates attended. At the Convention Lynn Buyan received her State Degree, the first member from Beaverhead County High School to receive this award. The officers responsible for the successful activities this year were President, Lynn Buyan; Vice President, Marie Kruljac; Secretary, Elaine Husted; Treasurer, Helen Rebich; Parliamentarian, Carleen Richardson; Reporter, Cora Larson; and Song Leader, Pam Camp. Mrs. Andrus was the adviser and Mrs. Frances Richardson served as chapter mother. FFA Molds Leaders For Agriculture Beginning their 37th year of activities at Beaverhead County High School, the Beaverhead Chapter of the Future Farmers of America held its annual Harvest Ball in the fall with Rich and the Poor Boys providing the music. The Junior queen candidate, Karen Anderson, was crowned the 1966 Harvest Ball Queen. Delegates to the National FFA Convention, held in Kansas City, Missouri, on October 7-14, were David Glaus, Wade Hansen, Jock McDowell, and Monte Clemow. They made a summation of their trip at the annual Parent-Son Banquet, which was held on February 21. The Winter Fair Judging Team was composed of Allen Martinell, Walter Zobell, and John Glaus; the alternate judges were Rich Jackson, Wayne Else, and John Rieber. This year's Chapter Greenhand was John Walker. A number of members attended the District FFA Convention in Deer Lodge on March 17 and 18. Tom Peterson, Allen Martinell, and Walter Zobell were members on the State Judging Team, which participated during the State FFA Convention in Bozeman early in April. Monte Clemow was named a State Star Farmer, a Chapter Star Farmer, and was elected third State Vice President at the State Convention. Mr. Alden Irish was FFA adviser. 1966-1967 Officers of FFA were (L. to R.)
