Jules Wenger, George Red Pettit CUSTODIANS Cleaning, scrubbing, polishing, waxing--these are the duties which keep our industrious janitors, ’Red and Jules, busy. Seldom seen without a dust mop or a broom, these two men do their jobs and still have time to smile and chat with a student or teacher. Some folks say that Red and Jules keep the cleanest boiler room in Montana; and from all indications, it is true. So--to the men whose job it is to keep our school beauti- ful--we extend a heartfelt thanks.” SECRETARY Meeting the day's demands with patience and efficiency, Mrs. Ruth Wenger, Beaverhead County High School’s capable secretary, has many varied tasks to perform. In addition to her secretarial duties, she must listen to end- less excuses and act as guide, friend, and sometimes parent to countless students. She prepares tests for teachers, issues report cards, and seldom makes a mistake. Mrs. Wenger, we salute you! BUS DRIVERS Because there are many students in rural areas, we need qualified school bus drivers to provide transportation to school from these outlying areas. BCHS boasts seven of the finest and most capable bus drivers in the state. These faithful drivers are: Jack Thiel, Eugene Bennett, Bob Sawyer, Mrs. Pat Burwell, Emerson Selway, Lowell Nelson and Jim Given. J. Thiel, E. Bennett, B. Sawyer, P. Burwell, E. Selway, L. Nelson, J. Given. 6

PRINCIPAL, Mr. Lodge. The Railroad Crossing sign says: Look Both Ways Before Crossing.” Such a sign would well express the mood for the seniors. This is the time when you should look both ways, backward and forward, into the past, and into the future, as you stand at a major crossing point in life. I hope you will think of the immediate past with gratitude and appreciation for what you have learned and gained from it, and I pray that you might think of the future with a purpose in mind and with resolu- tion in your heart. Whatever your future job, career, or profession, the amount and quality of training and practice will be decisive. The famous French general, Ferdinand Foch, Commander-in-Chief of the armies of France in World War I, put it wisely: ”The battle is won the day before.” ADMINISTRATORS For you the year 1964 marks your gradua- tion from high school. Never has a class grad- uated from high school that has had greater responsibility or greater opportunity and challenge than the class of 1964. I firmly believe that the future of our great nation lies with you and active young people who will respond to the challenge of the con- temporary age. For twelve years you have provided basic preparation for your future challenge; but be ever aware that graduation from high school is a beginning and not an end. As you become woven into the fabric of so- ciety with its disappointments, its failures, its happiness, and its success, I challenge you to live in such a manner that the world will be a better place because you lived here. Congratulations and Best of Luck. TjL S ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL, Mr. Fitzpatrick.
