With a cheery smile, and a wave of the hand He was wandered into an unknown land, And left us dreaming how very fair It needs must be, since he lingers there And you--0 you, who the wildest yearn For the old-time step and the glad return; Think of him faring on, as dear In the love of There as the love of Here; Think of him still as the same, I say; He is not dead,--He is just away! James Whitcomb Riley 3 Mrs. David Hagenbarth, Hiram Lapham, Ted Hazelbaker, Mrs. Anne Sparrow, W. E. Monger, B. W. Lodge, Principal Not pictured: Mrs. Ura Stroeder, Rev. Z. A. Jumper. V SCHOOL BOARD Citizens of Beaverhead County who are willing to donate their time for the welfare of BCHS make up our school board. These people don’t receive pay for their fine services. Our achievements and accomplishments are their only reward. OUR PRINCIPAL To the Class of 1961 . . . All good things eventually come to pass. You young people are passing the first milestone in your career. Your courage and determination, up to this point, deserve the well earned praise and awards you have received. This is just the beginning. The world into which you are entering is full of pit-falls and various isms. To keep all good things coming your way, it will be necessary that you show the same type of courage and determination in the future as you have displayed for the past four years. Congratulations and best wishes. B. W. Lodge Principal 5 SECRETARY Mrs. Ruth Wenger has filled the position of secretary very efficiently. Quit goofing off, Mel! 32 Perhaps the most valuable result of all education is the ability to make yourself do the thing you have to do, when it ought to be done, whether you like it or not; it is the first lesson that ought to be learned; and however early a man's training begins, it is probably the last lesson that he learns thoroughly. —Thomas Henry Huxley SOPHOMORES CLASS OFFICERS Rex Huntsman, President; Bill Slanger, Vice President; Mildred Childs, Secretary SOPHOMORES Bruce Bacon Elaine Bacon Patricia Banning Deon Bergeson Rick Boetticher Virgil Bostwick Robert Bowring Jack Bramsman Carol Ann Buell Charlotte Can Janet Carr Michael Carter Mary Lee Castello Mildred Childs Roger Cleverley Sally Dille Jerry Donovan Don Drivdahl Marilyn Durant Andrew Dyka Lee Eberline John Feathers Gary Fournier Sidney Fredrickson Leon Graves Roy Hall Dorothy Harkness Steve Hignight Ronald Hood Rex Huntsman Helen Kruljac Karen Lenhait Byron Martinell Marsha McAlpin Christine McArthur Veeta McCleery Catherine Miller Robert Miller Ann Mitchell Jim Mohi William Monger Kathyrn Morrison Sharon Murray Chari Neidt Lillian Nolan Ethel Jean Nygren Airlynn Pierce Judy Ralston Benny Ryan Barbara Schindler Steve Selway William Slanger Lana Smith Randy Smith Dick Stauduhar Jerry Stone Rae Cille Strasser Margaret Tucker Richard Weatherston Tom Webster Steve Williams Ed Wilson Linda Zebarth In 1959 there were 95 members of the Freshman Class that entered B.C.H.S. I When the books close, and the last bell rings. And carefree days are lost to mundane things-- When nostalgia strikes, and your memory wanes, And you remember the faces but not the names- Pick up your yearbook and leaf it through, And remember the days so dear to you.
