September 7, 1954, the day and the time we were looking forward to and yet almost afraid to have arrive. Initia- tions were fun. We looked at our classmates as we assembled in our costumes of barrels, sack cloth, hula skirts, and other modes of dress and enjoyed a good laugh. It didn't take us long to organize with Bob D'Evelyn at the helm with Donna Lee Given as Vice President; Mary Garrison, Secretary; and Gary Swartz, Treasurer. Shirley Cote qualified for yell leader and Charles Tolson represented us on the Student Council. Bette Mockel and Bruce Thomas became Red Cross representatives. We had our ups and downs but all in all we did quite well. Bob D'Evelyn and Bob Wallace began their athletic careers in football. Mary Garrison was named candidate for Harvest Ball Queen. Mrs. McCollum and Mr. Scott were our class sponsors. Our sophomore year Bob D'Evelyn was again chosen as President with Sonja Holland as Vice President, Bette Mockel as Secretary and Walton Peterson as Treasurer. Fred Backus was our yell leader and Mary Garrison and Bruce Thomas represented us on the Student Council. Bette Mockel and Dan Rebish were on the Red Cross Council Don Puyear was elected to serve on the Beaver Lodge Committee. Some of us tried our luck in dramatics, some ir Music and some of the boys really made our athletic contribution to the school show outstanding progress. Sonja Holland was Harvest Ball Queen candidate. The three members who made Honor Society were Sonja Holland, June Packer, and Gayle Wheat. Miss Nelson and Miss Christy sponsored us through our sophomore year. Our junior year began with Gayle Wheat as President; June Packer, Vice President; Vida Flander, Secretary; and Roy Cor- nell as Treasurer. Mary Garrison was our yell leader, with Bill Petersen and Mary Kay Straugh as members of the Red Cross Council. Our Student Council representatives were Mary Garrison, Dick Newton, Bill Petersen and Sonja Holland. Bette Mockel was Harvest Ball Queen candidate. Mary Garrison, Bette Mockel and Vida Flanders were initiated into Honor Society. Gayle Wheat and Vida Flanders were elected by the girls of the junior class to attend Girls State held at Montana State College in Bozeman. The boys chosen to attend Boys State were Ricky Riebhoff, Bob D'Evelyn, Roy Cornell, Dick Newton, Steve Andrews, and Bill Petersen. One of the outstanding events in our Junior year was the Junior Prom and the Junior Senior Banquet held at the Elks Lodge prior to the Prom. Miss Mc- Quillan, Mr. Scott and Mr. McDonald were our class sponsors. Seniors at last! We've had such fun looking forward to the year we would reign supreme. We chose as our senior officers: Bob D'Evelyn, President; Mary Garrison, Vice President; Gayle Wheat, Secretary-Treasurer; and Fred Backus, yell leader. Marilyn Bogut and Bruce Thomas served on the Red Cross council. Bob D'Evelyn served as President of the Student Council; Ricky Riebhoff, Vice President; Roy Cornell, Treasurer; and Gayle Wheat. Sec- retary; Bob Wallace, Representative. The seniors entered Gayle Wheat as their candidate for Harvest Ball Queen. Dave Ferris, junior class president, crowned June Packer,Queen of the Prom, with Mary Garrison and Mary Kay Straugh as attendents. Senior Sneak Day was a red letter day for all seniors. We made the trip to Elkhorn by bus - did lots of swimming • had loads of food and Oh what delicious chicken. Those who didn't plan on swimming were promptly tossed in - clothes and all. Then remember our ride home - the bus just gave up - so we hiked those last few weary miles. Then May 28th arrived, we were really not as happy about leaving as we had thought we would be. It gives one a nostalgic feeling - saying good-bye to four of the most precious years of our lives. Mr. Bierrum and Mr. Curran were the sponsors who guided us through 1957-58. 20
