Freshman Class History On September 2, 1953, seventy- nine freshmen entered Beaverhead County High School. Friday of the first week they were initiated by the Sophomore Class at a school assem- bly and were marched around town. That night they were honored at a mix- er and they gave a return dance for the Sophomores on September 12. Projects for the year were three dances on which they made one hun- dred and seventy-five dollars, a fine start. The freshmen gave free sand- wiches at their last dance. This was a new idea. The class officers were Pete Mil- ler, president; Marlene Westad, sec- retary; Dalene Lessey, treasurer; Vonda Jones, yell leader. Marilyn Smith and Craig Cornell represented the class on the Beaver Lodge Com- mittee. Stephan Foster was elected to the Student Council. Mr. Scott and Mrs. McCollum were class sponsors. 30
