Griest carries another T.D. for Homecoming victory over Franklin. Head Coach R. Coy studies the situation at the Chaminade game. A GREAT FOOTBALL TEAM The football team of 1961 will be remembered not only for its drive and determination but also for its unusual situation. This includes the Winning of the Mid-Miami League title and then having the title taken away. Although not having a sensational season, the Beavers found themselves with a 4-1 league record, which gave them the crown. Later it was found that an ineligible player on another team gave the title to Monroe . Although filled with sorrow at the loss, the Beavers are still considered the champs by the student body . MID-MIAMI CHAMPS Although being a very new sport at Beavercreek, the cross country team won the 1961 league title . This team did not have a fabulous season, but it went to the final league meet with a desire for victory that could not be beaten. Both the varsity and the reserve boys won! Coach Moran and his young team of only three years deserve congratula- tions. Their per- formance has shown promise of a suc- cessful future in the field of cross coun- try at Beavercreek. Athletic Director Robert Workman is very busy, as usual. 56 Dick Norman leads both teams in Cross Country meet.
