YASUO SAITO I was born in Okayama, Japan, on january 5, 1948. Okayama is located about five hundred miles southwest of Tokyo and about one hundred miles east of Hiroshima. It is on the coast of Seto Inland Sea-one of the most scenic places in japan. These three cities are on the same island-Honshu, which is the largest of the four main islands. My father teaches history and geography at a high school. I have three brothers and one sister. Two of my brothers finished college and are working, one for an electric company and the other for a tex- tile company. The other brother is a sophomore at a university in Tokyo and my sister is a high school sophomore. In japan we use the tri-semester system, and every school year starts in April. Everyone begins the study of English in the seventh grade. English is the only foreign language taught until college. Since I have finished only the first semester of my senior year in japan, I shall complete the other two- thirds in order to prepare for college upon my return to Japan in July. I have had a great experience at Beaver River Central School. I have learned many things which I could not have learned in japan, such as Latin and American History. Football and dancing are new in- terests which I have acquired in the United States. Everyone has been very kind to me, which has has made my stay here more enjoyable. gimmick Q were
