VARSITY Captain Dick Mathys led the Beaver River Central School basketball team to Captain Dick Mathys led the Beaver River Central School basketball team to a highly successful season, winning ten games while losing six Th highlight of the season was the defeat of Port Leyden on their home court This was the only loss suffered by the Port Leyden team in league competition The Beavers fin ished in third place in the Lewneida League BROS BROS West Leyden Remsen Forrestport Croghan C Ville Port Leyden Glenfield JUNIOR VARSITY BASKETBALL The Junior Varsity enjoyed a very sucessful season with s record of 8 wins and 4 defeats. lembers of the team were: Ray Grsu, Dino Bpagnolli, B111 0011. B111 Hifivhey. Culver Lallourey. David Cronk, Bruce Stahlin, Dick Brown, Herbert Wenz, Jr., and Neil larolf. VARSITY CLUB President Richard Mathys Vice President Francis Herman Secretary Treasurer Donald Combs One of the outstanding organizations of Beaver River Central School is the Varsity Club, composed of all boys, who have earned letters in Varsity Sports The Club has charze of all phases of athletic competition and has been successful, both financially and in the point of view of sportsmanship during the past Veer A successful Intramural program has been carried on during the noon hour to the enjoyment of both spectators and participants The younger Basketball team, composed of seventh eizhth, and ninth graders, has been gaining valuable experience in leazue competition, participating in seven games The Volley Ball Sauad composed of B Fredenburg, D Petvoldt, Mathys, N Sweeney, D Combs, B Hirschey, N Schulz D Lehman, F Herman B Owens, was acclaimed the champion of the Lewnelda League at the tournament held at the General Martin Central School at Glenfield 21 - . 1 . -. .
