BEAVER - 31 WELLSVILLE - 6 The Bobcats romped to their first win of the '63 season crushing the Wellsville Tigers 31-6. The game was an exhibition for the Bobcats, but Beaver pounded the Tigers mercilessly, rolling up 5 TD's and scoring in every period. Charlie Bell's two scores, one a 55 yard iaunt, and Denny Hrom'ika's passing sparked the Beaver attack. The Bobcat defense held the Tigers to one score late in the final period. BEAVER - 31 MIDLAND - 20 Midland's Leopards and their highly touted halfback Mike Krivoshia came to Beaver next, but the 'Cats ground out a 31-20 victory. Stunned by the roars of Let's go 21-O , the Leopards went home the losers and Krivoshia was held to a meager 14 yards rushing. The entire Leopard running game netted less than 50 yards and Grad, Bell, and Hromika all scored for the 'Cats, BEAVER - 12 EVANS CITY - 6 The 'Cats received a big surprise when they traveled to meet Class B Evans City for their sec- ond game. Hromika moved the ball to a pair of touchdowns in the first half, scoring one and passing to Melkerson for the other. But in the second half the Rams stopped the 'Cats on two drives into Evans City territory. A 75-yard TD run by Hromika was called back in the fourth quarter and Beaver had to settle for a hard- earned 12-6 win.

BEAVER - 7 HOPEWELL - 0 Charlie Bell cmd the defensive line could be credited with the 'Cats fourth straight win. C. Bell scored the game's only touchdown on a 4th and goal situation from four yards out, and saved the game in the fourth period with a key interception on the Beaver goal line. The 'Cats' line held the vaunted Hopewell rushers to 'I30 yards as Bell and Hromika covered the defensive backfield. Beaverites among the 7500 fans who watched the game in Aliquippa stadium went home that night aware that the 'Cats were really on the move. BEAVER - 27 FREEDOM - 0 The 'Cats entertained Freedom's Bulldogs at home and easily racked up the third of four shut- outs in '63. Ferocious blocking by the linemen once again sprung Beaver's halfbacks loose on long-gainers. Bell picked up 85 yards, but the scoring was left to Hromika, Ammon, Chimley, and Mel Rose, each of whom tallied once. Mean- while the 'Cats' defense snagged three Freedom aerials and recovered a pair of fumbles to thwart every Bulldog drive. BEAVER - 19 NEW BRIGHTON - 0 Brighton was next on the list for the Berdell- men and they proceeded to pound out a 19-O win over the hapless Lions. The Beaver line shredded the Lion defense, opening huge holes for Bell, Grad, and Ammon. A 46 yard pass to Bill Chimley set up the first touchdown and Bell rolled 37 yards on a trap play in the fourth per- iod for another 6 points. The Lion rushers could get but 45 yards and the Bobcats allowed the Lions only 2 completions in the game. On Mon- day the signs read Let's go 24-O.
