Nicol. cibeaficafiolfz, Football is a challenging sport! It challenges the physical prowess of the individual. lt chal- lenges mental alertness, the attitude toward sportsmanship, loyalty to an ideal, the desire for leadership and probably the greatest of all--the building of character. Not everyone can actively participate in this exciting sport because of the physical character- istics generally needed, but we can take a very active interest in supporting those who do. Par- ticularly is this true in a high school such as ours where we can encourage the coaches and team, where we can arouse school spirit in the student body and develop a strong loyalty to our Alma Mater. While we cannot experience the real thrill of active participation throughout the season as the team does, we can, and do, point with pride to those who represented our school so successfully across the past several years. The 1963 football season has meant many things in Beaver Area High. To the coaches and players it meant days, weeks, months of hard work, rigorous training, tough competition and a strong sense of personal satisfaction in a job well done. To the student body it meant a re- awakening of a real live school spirit the like of which has not been seen for many years. We were proud to be a part of a school represented by such a team. lt is the sincere hope of the Class of 1964 that each succeeding team will add to the glory that has been ours and each succeeding student body will lend faithful sup- port to those teams and above all, keep that vi- brant school spirit alive. And so-to the team, which went 25 in a row, and 26 of 27 games, to Mr. John Berdell, the coach and all his assistants we salute you and proudly dedicate the Shingas of 1964 to: A GREAT TEAM
