Each year your Senior English classes are introduced to Shakespeare, Macbeth and the three witches, and each year they leave with a deeper and richer appreciation of the works of a great man because of your keen and sensitive interpretation of his many characters. While we recognize that Shakespeare is, perhaps, one of your greatest inter- ests, we also know that your other interests are many and varied. Extensive reading, writing poetry, and strumming your ukelele certainly show the breadth of your activities. Born the daughter of a minister, in Topeka, Kansas, you received your ele- mentary and secondary education in many different localities as you accompanied your father in his appointed ministries. For your advanced education Western College in Oxford, Ohio, became your Alma Mater. Following graduation, sev- eral teaching positions gave you your experience before coming to Beaver Area, one of which was in San Juan, Puerto Rico, until illness caused you to return to the states. Later, after marriage to Mr. William Hokman and the raising of a daughter, Jennifer, you returned to your chosen profession by accepting a position in Mid- land High School. When the opportunity presented itself, you transferred to Beaver Area High School-Midland's loss and our gain. Since coming to Beaver you have taught Sophomore as well as Senior English. While directing class plays may be thought of as an extra-curricular activity, you have inspired the casts with the desire to do their best, a good example being this year's Senior Class Play, The Remarkable Incident at Carson Corners. As sponsor of the National Honor Society you have exercised great influence in raising the stand- ards for admission as well as inspiring members to greater heights of educational achievement before and after graduation from high school. And so to Mrs. Genevieve Hokman, who loves people, particularly young people, who has dedicated her life to educating and helping those young people, whose interests are so many and varied, and who never ceases to demonstrate a rich enthusiasm for her work, we proudly dedicate our Shingas.
