TO A FRIEND Mr. Higbee-THIS IS YOUR SHINGAS. Your 18 years of service to Beaver Area High School, your definite interest in everyone, your fine character and pleasing personality, were all considered when the class of 1958 chose you for this honor. You have been strongly motivated to offer only the best in Mechanical Drawing and Shop instruction. The various awards won by your students attest the quality of your teach- mg. You were born in Venetia, Pennsylvania, attended the Bethel schools and were graduated from the California fPa.1 State Teachers College with the degree Bachelor of Science in Industrial Arts. Later you received your Master in Educa- tion degree from the University of Pittsburgh. ln January 1940 you came to Beaver schools to take up your duties as Industrial Arts instruc- tor, but you remained only a few years before answering the call to serve in the Navy. Two and one-half years later you returned to Beaver to stay. ln our school you have been active not only as a teacher, but in extra-curricular affairs as well. At present you hold the titles of attend- ance officer and faculty manager of athletics. Previous to these assignments you found time to sponsor a Vocational Club, a Sportsmans Club and the Bobcat Club. ln civic life you are a loyal Rotarian, a member of the Beaver Sportsmans Club and a faithful member and officer in the Beaver Christian Church. Friendship is one of life's most valuable gifts. Through your many activities and associa- tions you have gathered a host of friends. May we hope to be included among them. We, the class of 1958, express our sincere thanks for this friendship, your time and assist- ance, and proudly present our Shingas to you. Class of 1958.
