66 E yourself-let natural actions sell your personalityf, No Beaver High student will ever forget the pleasing personality of the author of that familiar statement-Mrs. Beulah Cook. N0 one will forget her ac- tivities in our behalf, her sincerity, friend- ship, interest in our affairs, and her ever- present smile. It is for these qualities that she has won and held the respect and admiration of all her students. The little things in life determine the major thingsf, So it is that Mrs. Cook's simple likes and dislikes are characteristic of her personality. Among her many leisure time pursuits are reading good books, writing, and playing the piano. Be- ing a student of human nature, she recog- nizes shortcomings and frailties, as well as success and happiness and because of this understanding can make excellent use of the better features of people, while making allowances for the weaknesses. This recog- nition of human attributes has endeared her to faculty and student alike. Miss Beulah Veiock was an honor gradu- ate of New Brighton High School. She at- tended Grove City College on a scholarship and soon after began her teaching career in Beaver Schools. She stopped teaching for a while at 'the insistance of a Mr. Geyer Cook and took time out to raise a family. She returned to the profession about 1944 in our junior high school. In 1946 she accepted her present position as junior English teacher in the high school. During the war Mrs. Cook was an active member of the Red Cross and she is a past president of the Rochester Woman's Club. Not all of Mrs. Cookis work has been confined to the English classes in the high school in-which she makes American Liter- ature a real live experience. As coach of the junior Class plays she directed A Date With Iudyv, class of '48, Dear Ruthv, class of '49 and Strange Boardersv, representing the efforts of the present Senior class as juniors. As a .friend she showed a keen in- terest in-such activities as our magazine sale, junior prom and even the production of our Shingas. At present she is serving on a State Committee for English Curricular Revision giving prestige to both self and school. Mrs. Cook has earned the respect of Beaver students in many ways. Her mature counsel has helped us to meet our prob- lems. Her classes have dealt with develop- ing personalities and a broad view of the future. Her interest in our activities has helped inspire our class on to many new records. Her trust in our ability has given us encouragement to tackle jobs that other- wise we would have left undone. Her sincere friendship toward all students has gained admiration and love throughout the school. Thus it is with a small show of gratitude for the great help she has not only given to us but to the school and community alike that we, the Class of 1950, proudly dedicate our Shingas to our real friend- Mrs. Beulah Cook.
