All organizations have at their head a lead- ing group. lt is the duty of the individuals constituting it to determine and direct all major functions of the group they command and to lead them in developing such attributes as courage, honor, service, and leadership. Our Command, which consists of the super- intendent, principal, and faculty, has several duties. While their first thought is our schol- astic achievements, they also develop in us, by means of extra-curricular activities, leadership, service and character. In this section we pre- sent those persons who aid in molding our outlook on lite.

Little do we realize throughout the year just how much time and effort our sponsors and advisers devote to us. They work behind the scenes un- acclaimed and almost unknown. We, of the senior class, wish to here ac- knowledge the services rendered us this year by Mrs. Cummins, Mr. Paterick and Mr. Smith. These three have helped us in all the varied activities which must be undertaken by any senior class. Sales campaigns, dances, the pub- lishing of a yearbook, and numerous other projects connected with our com- mencement-all were helped and guided along by our sponsors and advisers. Our most sincere appreciation is extended to those individuals whose mature advice and guidance has enabled us to bring our high school career to a suc- cessful conclusion.

The recurring airplane designs through- out this edition of the Shingas is very much in keeping with the trends of the times and symbolizes, in a measure, the effects of the coming air-age upon education and living in the new world toward which we are striv- ing. Young people apparently need very little stimulus to bring their attention to the changes that the airplane is destined to bring to our mode of living and our sphere of contacts. I sincerely hope that your thoughts extend beyond the mere thrill of speed and that you can appreciate and can evaluate the impact of the air-age upon G. A. McCormick Superintendent, Beaver Schools civilization in general and you in particular. With the inevitable changes to come there will be opportunities for personal achieve- ments as free people strive to make contri- butions to a world society. The British Prime Minister recently said, The future of the world is left to highly educated races who alone can handle the scientific apparatus necessary for preeminence in peace or sur- vival in war. The challenge is self-evidentl Are you prepared to meet it? A well trained, disciplined mind and body will greatly aid in helping you find your place and to do your part in that air-age into which the post war world is destined. My sincere wishes are for your success and happiness. '777
