TIGER BEAVER FALLS SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL BEAVER FALLS, PENNSYLVANIA 15010 VOLUME LXX With the emphasis on film, photography, and videos in our world today, we find ourselves growing into an age of visual literacy where the old clichd has come true: A picture is worth a thousand words. In this edition of the TIGER, we have attempted to capture in pictures the world of BFHS in 1985-86. With the use of movie titles reminiscent of the 1986 school, we hope to have highlighted your most cherished moments. In the years ahead, as you page through the 1986 TIGER, we hope your high school memories will live again, forever. Underclassmen can look toward their senior year with dreams, hopes, and expectations, while the Class of '86 can finally savor the reality of their own homecoming, prom, graduation and all their years together—all treasured moments captured on film and destined to live forever. If the cliche' about pictures is true, the TIGER of 1986 should hold tens of thousands of words to preserve your memories of 1985-86. D D As I open my scrapbook, I see pictures That take me down memory lane, Whether cruising the streets or having fun At football and basketball games. Private talks with special freinds, Revealing our hopes and fears. Planning our futures, sharing laughter and pain Throughout our high school years. Yet, childishly, we let petty fights interfere With the best days of our lives. Silly arguments about whose friend is whose? And quarrels over girls or guys. I wish we could all get along together Without breaking off into cliques, We should be ONE; that is the meaning Of The Class of '86. But those days are behind us, and we should repress Those long-forgotten tears, But we must remember the smiles and laughter Throughout those four special years: Pep rallies for our great sports' teams That brought us a few championships. The parties, the dances, our senior prom, And the boys of '86. Finally, graduation day, At last the time had come. Such happiness was shared on that special event. Yet, it was the most painful one. For we were anxious and excited To finally make it through, But that was our last time completely together Before starting anew. Embracing, and saying farewell to friends We may never see again. The heartfelt tears from that last good-bye, Those memories will never end. The bond between us can never break. No matter how far we part. Our high school days will always be treasured. Deep within our hearts. But good-bye doesn't have to mean forever; That's something we, ourselves, must fix Every five years, when we meet again As THE CLASS OF '86!! Lori DeRose LAWRENCE R. The festivities started with the Homecoming assembly. To the tune of You Are My Lady, the 1985 Homecoming Court was introduced. The members of the court and their escorts consisted of Kim Blythe and Mike River, Nancy D'Achille and Brian Pamer, Krisa Dougal and Dave Docchio, Michele Florie and Benny Carter, and Ann Young and Scott Shuler. The autumn scenery set the perfect atmosphere for this unforgettable afternoon. The Tigers were hungry for a win! During the first half, the team played well and set the scene for the half-time festivities. To the band's rendition of Hello, Michelle Florie, escorted by Joe Raichel, was crowned queen; Ann Young, escorted by Dave Hanlon, was announced crown bearer; Kim Blythe, escorted by Tom Szopo, was announced scepter bearer; and Krisa Dougal, escorted by Dubby Calioto, and Nancy D'Achille, escorted by Vince Gratteri, were announced as ladies-in-waiting. To make this evening most memorable, the Fighting Tiger Express awarded the court a win over Mars. A Homecoming Dance added the finishing touch to this weekend of memorable events. Indeed, Homecoming, 1985, will be remembered for years to come by all of us. At times, crazy antics, horrifying expressions, and thoughtful moods characterized BFHS! During the year, we saw Julie flashing her pearly whites, Nancy, looking surprised; Jerry, pretending he just saw a ghost; and Natasha, turning on the charm. On the other hand, Kelly concentrated on deep thoughts; Kim sported a puppy-eyed look; and Jon portrayed a character from a horror film. Even Robin seemed to enjoy her new facial, while Becky and Kara reflected a puzzling look. Often during the school day, students in Beaver Falls took their turns with crazy antics. Dino and Scott just plainly goofed around in the cafeteria; Antoine could repulse anyone at anytime by taking out his false teeth, and Jay took the opportunity to rest with a high seat on the ledge. Even Tom, jeopardizing his life, trusted Dave and Carmen to lift him up safely while Mike pressed Cavan over his head. Wild and crazy! Zany and expressive! Pensive and thoughtful! All represented BFHS! Spirit Week, held every year during the week of Homecoming, provided BFHS with plenty of excitement. During the week, students dressed in their orange and black, outrageous costumes, Hawaiian outfits, hats and pins, and dressy clothes to show their spirit. Many different crazy fashions were displayed on Outrageous Day. Hawaiian Day brought the warmth and a summer feeling to the cold autumn day. Students supported the school on Orange and Black Day by wearing their two favorite colors. BFHS fashioned their hats and pins to help celebrate that day. On Dress-Up Day, students modeled their finest clothes. The week went well and ended in a victorious win for the Fighting Tigers. Many thanks to the student body for their overwhelming support. t BFHS—A 1985-86 familiar look! Although a center for congregating, many times the cafeteria-commons area appeared empty, but when lunch time rolled around, hungry students filled each seat very readily and sometimes raucously. In addition to classes, the gymnasium happened to be the sight of the girls' basketball games, and many will well remember the weight room for extensive training, the gym for physical education classes, and the pool for fun. In the academic areas, the computer room, the lab classroom, and as well as the library have provided much solace to hard-working students. Every once in a while during the year, some exotic aromas would emanate from the cooking lab, enticing many, while song and rhythm would rise from the music wing to add even more dimensions to BFHS. However, nothing seemed more peaceful, solemn, or reminiscent of a day well spent than an empty hallway and its well used lockers—a symbol of life for four years at BFHS! ETI C rx=T 1 — The Ushers' Club presented a sensational Fall Winter Fashion Show on the evening of November 26. Holiday Magic proved to be an appropriate title because the show set the mood for the upcoming holiday season. Heather Crognale and Cavan Pamer emceed this festive occasion. The models displayed dressy and casual clothes from Susie's Casuals and Chess King of Beaver Valley Mall and formal wear from Mary's Bride and Formal and Groom's Plus of Beaver Falls. The show turned out to be very entertaining and enjoyable to all who attended. Without a doubt, BFHS has offered a very unique curriculum to its students. In the foreign language classes, the students learned to communicate in French or Spanish. Each year, Miss Selby's College Prep English II classes has entertained their fellow classmates with the one-act play, The Oyster and The Pearl. During lab chemistry, Larry demonstrated the techniques of a chemist, using the proper equipment. Painting can take a steady hand with a precise touch, and, evidently, John can utilize that right touch very nicely. All year, industrial art students worked hard on their wood projects completing very intricate pieces of fine craftmanship. While in biology class, students sometimes became fascinated by the strange animal life that often surrounded their studies. Often, Larry preferred fun and games at the computer to the long, hard programs, assigned by Mr. Trgovac. As part of their tasks for their photography class or the Tiger Yearbook, Dave and Brian helped print pictures, while Joyce measured her material to create a current fashion in home economics. Indeed, this year, BFHS has provided its students with a myriad of learning experiences. Fall and winter brought forth many special occasions in BFHS. The fall activities featured a Halloween play by the Drama Club and a Parents' Night, honoring the Football Team and their parents. To begin the Basketball Team's season, an assembly was held, and at the assembly, Joe Turner, a senior, received KDKA's Extra Effort A ward from Alan Cutler for his achievements on the track field, in school, and in his community. With winter, came many Christmas festivities such as a Christmas play by the Drama Club, a Christmas Choral Concert, and a visitation by Santa Claus and his elves to child development and BFHS. Once again, the Christmas tree and decorations brightened up the school and provided everyone with holiday cheer. Thanks to everyone who made the fall and winter of '85 a time to remember! This year, hustling and bustling activities have abounded at BFHS. The Ushers Club represented the ultimate of all this activity. Their annual initiation and induction of new members featured many fun times and special moments for all ushers. During football season, the Band along with the Tigerettes presented fine half time shows. In the winter and spring, the concert band also provided enjoyable entertainment to everyone who attended their performances. The Circulo De Espanol conducted its meetings only in Spanish. This year, the club sang Christmas Carols in Spanish to collect money for Children's Hospital. In the fall, the hard-working Yearbook staff distributed Yearbooks, a proud moment for a job well-done. All year, the Stage Crew and the Audio Visual Club set the stage for performances and provided classrooms with the proper equipment. During the Christmas season, the Executive Student Council decorated our school to help celebrate this festive, warm season. Every morning, B.B.S. announced the daily events to the student body very faithfully. . . . And as the days and years go by, the hustling and bustling at BFHS has kept going on . . . and on .. . and on ... . The lyrics of If Only For One Night, lingered long in the minds and hearts of all those attending the 1986 Prom. In the Middle School gymnasium, people sat on the edge of their seats anxiously awaiting the introduction of the 1986 Prom Court. The time finally arrived, Beth Flaherty and Nancy D'Achille were announced as flower girls; Michele Florie and Jennifer Uslenghi were introduced as ladies-in-waiting; Maria Welsh was announced as train bearer; Ann Young was chosen as sceptor bearer; Renee Magliocca was named crown bearer; and to the sound of a roaring audience, Tammy Cox was crowned queen. Joe Rai-chel and Mary Cairns as well as Dave Docchio and Lynn Lewis presided as hosts and hostesses for the Grand March. After being introduced, the elegantly dressed couples strolled down the ballooned walkway and bowed to her majesty, Queen Tammy. The queen, her court, and their escorts led everyone in the first dance. Following the coronation, each couple headed for the Beaver Valley Country Club in a police-escorted caravan of cars. Lenny Scialdone, a local D.J., started off the after-prom festivities on a festive note with his high-spirited music. Dinner was served next, followed by Sam Hoffmaster, a witty magician. Mike Simmons then highlighted the evening for many with his upbeat tunes. Although memorable in many ways, the evening did contain a note of sadness with the realization that the Class of '86 would come together for only one more time. THE FOUR SEASONS r'TJfgi ALL THE RIGHT MOVES The Beaver Falls Tigers, defending WPIAL Champions, ended their season with a record of seven wins and three losses. The 1985 Football Season opened with a tough loss to the Ambridge Bridgers by a score of 7-3. The Tigers defeated their next four opponents, Center, Brownsville, Freedom, and Quaker Valley, by a combined score of 129-13. The low point of the year for the Tigers was the next two games against Riverside and Ell-wood City. The Tigers did not play up to their potential. Turning the ball over several times and making costly mistakes had a great deal to do with the outcome of the Tigers' season. The Tigers finished the season like the champions they are better known as by shutting out Mars, New Brighton, and Beaver, respectively. Coach Blythe will lose twelve senior letter-men: Calvin Anderson, Benny Carter, Shawn Cleckly, Martin Cox, Dave Docchio, Mannie Foskey, Paul Mulig, Ed Reynolds, Payton Riggins, Mike River, Scott Shuler, and Adrian Williams. FHowever, there are twenty-one returning lettermen. The 1986 Fighting Tigers look very promising. Making All-State Honors for the Tigers were Ed Reynolds and Mike River. Reynolds made Second Team defense while River made Honorable Mention for both offense and defense. Congratulations to Coach Blythe and the 1985 Fighting Tigers on a well-played season. 3 42 20 32 35 7 6 48 19 22 WINS- BROWNSVILI.fH FREEDOM QUAKER VALLEY RIVERSIDF ELLWO )l) MARS NEW BRIGHTON BEAVER ;Y .• FIRST ROW: M. Team concentration! Butch, with a winning form! 107 FOOTLOOSE The 1985-86 Boys' Track Team posed many questions in the months of January and February. With only two senior letter veterans, the 1985-86 season seemed to be one destined for rebuilding. However, with strong leadership from Joe Turner, the season turned out to be one of reloading, rather than rebuilding. The Tigers breezed through the regular season and finished with a mark of 8-0. The Tigers then began the quest for the WPIAL Team Championship. The First Round Team saw the Tigers finish first and earn the opportunity to compete in the championship meet. In the WPIAL Finals, the Tigers finished in the runner-up spot to West Mifflin by a score of 67-83. Next came the State Championship Qualifiers, which saw the Tigers qualify eleven individuals in eight events. The State Meet once again proved to be a roller coaster, but by the end of the second day of competition, the Tigers found themselves in fifth place in a field of 134 teams. The state meet was highlighted by a brilliant performance by Joe Turner and an outstanding 1600 meter relay leg by Gregg Barrett. The 1985-86 edition of the Boys' Track Team can be summarized by the Three D's—determination, dedication and desire. Congratulations, men, on a job well done! NO PAIN—NO GUTS—NO GAIN —NO GLORY! The Beaver Falls Boys' Basketball Team had an outstanding regular season. The Tigers had an overall record of twenty-one wins and only one loss. The Tigers suffered their only loss in regular season to Erie Academy by a score of BBSS. The Tigers remained undefeated for the remainder of their regular season. The Team's greatest disappointment was their WPIAL Play-off loss to Canavin by a heart-breaking score of 56-55. In the eyes of the people of Beaver Falls High School, the Tigers are still a group of WINNERS. They beat the WPIAL Champs twice in regular season by the scores 76-67 and 16-13, respectively. The Boys' Basketball Team also beat the WPIAL Runners-up twice by scores of 58-56 and 87-44. Although the year ended in disappointment, the Beaver Falls Tigers proved they are true champs. Their marching season included appearances in the Labor Day Parade, the football games, and the Memorial Day Parade. On the other hand, the Concert Band and Jazz Band held two concerts throughout the year. At their first concert held on February 18, the concert band entertained with such selections as Rock and Roll Explosion and Yorktown's Centennial while the Jazz Band played, On Broadway and Smooth Operator. The second presentation by the Concert Band and Jazz Band, held on May 15, highlighted the year. The concert was dedicated to the memory of the late Charles Pietro, a true music lover at heart. A few of the prestigious Tiger musicians were recipients of awards this year. Mary Cairns was awarded the John Philip Sousa Award along with Dave Hanlon who also was named an Outstanding Jazz Instrumentalist. Brian Pamer received the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award while his brother, Gavan, was named an Outstanding Jazz Instrumentalist. Chris Barrett was the recipient of the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award as well as the Outstanding Band Member Award. Officers of the 1985-86 Tiger Band consisted of Dave Hanlon, president; Amy Seidler, vice president; Chris Barrett, secretary; and Mary Cairns, treasurer. He restoreth my soul; He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Amen IN MEMORY OF IRENE KIRCHNER At first a teacher in New Brighton and Beaver, Miss Kirchner came to the Big Beaver Falls Area School District in October, 1953. She was a guid-aru e counselor in the old Junior High School at a time when not many junior or senior high schools in Beaver County offered any guidance services to students. For many years, she served as advisor of Junior High Student Council and was responsible for publicity. For a year on WBVP, she did a weekly radio program on educational activities in the district. A MEMORIAL FOR IRENE by WILLIAM KNESS Miss Irene Kirchner, guidance director in our high school, died Wednesday, April 9, 1986. The greatest use of life is to spend it for something that will outlast it. William James 174 When love and skill work together, expect a masterpiece. John Rusk in As a high school guidance director in 1985-86, Miss kirchner was always busy listening to students and staff members. As a result, we never really learned very much about her personal life. She was devoted to her mother— who survives her She was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church in New Brighton. In addition to teaching Sunday School, she served on numerous committees and boards in her church, including the Board of Sessions. A very capable public speaker, she represented her church as a lay speaker throughout Beaver County for many years. Her community services also included serving on the Board of Directors of the Medical Center as well as past executive director of the Girl Scouts Council. To accomplish great things we must not only act, bur also dream; not only plan, but also believe. Anatole France As a professional educator. Miss Kirchner belonged to local, State, and National Education Associations as well as the Beaver County Counselors Association. A past president of the local Big Beaver Falls Education Association, she had the distinction of being the only teacher from Beaver Falls to ever serve as a State officer of the National Education Association. To students, to her colleagues in education, to this school district, Miss Kirchner gave nearly half her life believing that the good teacher or counselor is someone who passes through your life and then becomes a permanent part of your very being. Work is love made visible. Kahlil Gibran CUSTODIANS: Nancy McClintock, George Smith, Nettie Beighley. CAFETERIA WORKERS: Firs! Row: Alice Hahn, Pat Zawatski, Alice Lombardo. DREAMS TWINS KOPPEL WOMEN Loving, Caring, Aggravating, Persistent, But I can't live without them. Antoine Whittington Always have a dream and believe it will come true. Strive to make it a reality in everything you do. For dreams are what make life worth living, Love worth taking, and love worth giving. Dreams keep life from being boring. They lift up your spirit and keep it soaring. Alexes Rochelle James Koppel, the place of my birth, acclaimed by its natives as the best place on Earth! A REFLECTION Now, first there's my Mom and, of course, my Dad, the kind of parents who make me feel glad. Now, there comes to mind the names of others, but first I have to mention my sisters and brothers. Grandma told me about Koppel's great pride, made up of people with nothing to hide. She has pride in her churches and really fine schools, with utmost respect for the Golden Rule. More places and names I would like to mention, but I choose to be brief; please understand my intention. So, whenever you're blue and kinda standing “pat, step into Koppel on our “welcome mat. Mike Ruby I LOVE YOU I can hardly remember, when I did cry. You came to me, like a nurse to a wounded soldier. You loved, You cared. You understood. I was confused, unable to see what I really wanted. You waited, somehow knowing I'd be back. Soon I knew, you were the one. I grew to love you, more than I could have ever imagined. And with every day, my love grows greater. My heart longs To be with you. To hold you. To kiss you, To say . . . I LOVE YOU. Jon Jobe Lifeless, Floating, Drowned, Your head slid down past Your shoulder till it came into my arms. Your blood escaped into the wind like a sheeet of paper. Your body dropped into my hands, drained out. I stared down into Your pierced side like a mirror reflecting Your life of agony. An image of my own! Half flowing in the river of my pulse, Your profile glides in its waters searching for our lost memories. Maureen Colaizzi WIND What is Wind? Wind can be the song of love and compassion with the florid colors of the earth. Wind can be the song of death and depression and can darken the world. Wind can sound like the gay laughter of children after the first fallen snow. Wind can act like death and feel like desolation. Wind can be the beginning of spring when the dew has settled on the grass. Wind can be the end of a late evening when it becomes roric and stale. Wind is like man; it can live and love, or can kill and destroy. Wind is the image of man! Joe Maher I was born an ordinary child With features just like others; The difference is I have a twin. We look like one another. Most folks don't know who is who; We even puzzle mother. From lack of knowing which is which, “Twins is what we usually get. Although we have separate minds. We sometimes end up in similar binds. To add to all this confusion, we use to dress the same. But now we don't and probably won't In hopes they'll know our names. It can be fun to be a double. But sometimes it can get you in trouble. It's really not as bad as it sounds. To have a twin who's always around. Michelle Gratteri A SMILE A smile is worth a thousand words; It's something precious to see. No matter where throughout the world. It's always free. A smile can bring joy Into a little one's heart. It makes his world A little easier to start. A smile wipes away a tear; It chases away sorrow. It can liven the weary, So that people can face the morrow. A smile is a lamplight, Alone in the park. It shines upon fright, To bring us out of the dark. A smile shows that you care. It makes life a little easier to bear. A smile is worth a thousand words . . . But be careful, one word can quickly change a smile to a frown. Stacy Cartwright LATE I'm always late to everything. My friends are most sarcastic. I wish that it could be arranged. That time were more elastic. Greg Koch WHAT IS A FRIEND? NEVER QUIT MONEY Fathers earn it! Students burn it! Mothers lend it! Co-eds spend it! Bankers save it! Misers crave it! Forgers fake it! Businessmen take it! Robbers seize it! The rich invest it! Gamblers loose it! I could USE it! John Novakovich COOL, NO FOOL I like school. I'm no fool, Cause I'm cool. I want to be bright. Full of light. Able to fight, With all my might. Julie Amygdalos THE GAME Going to the game. Looking for fame. Expecting to win, Because, who is Canevin? It started like we thought. Then the tide went like it should not. Now something's changed, The score they've rearranged! If only the game ball fell. Everything would be swell Because we still could have won. But now, the game is done. Our team fell to defeat, But our pride cannot be beat. Next time, we shall have a plan. Because, we are Chan's Clan! Frank Why TORNADO It comes from the West, Almost unknown. It tears up the trees. With a magnificent moan. The trees sway, And are bent to the ground. The wind blows With a sinister sound. After a few minutes. It has passed by. One can look up And see a clear sky. Brent Hoschar A friend is someone always there to lift you when you are down. A friend is someone always there to take away a frown. A friend is someone always there to lend a helping hand. A friend always cares when no one seems to understand. With a friend you can share your hopes, dreams, and fears. A friend is always there to wipe away your tears. A friend is someone who takes your good days and bad. A friend always seems to cheer you up whenever you are sad. Your friend always cares whether she's nearby or far away. Just thinking of her always seems to brighten up your day! When things go wrong, as they sometimes will, When the road you're trudging seems all uphill. When the funds are low and the debts are high And you want to smile, but you have a sigh. When care is pressing you down a bit. Rest if you must, but never quit. Becky Giardina AUTUMN NIGHT The night has just fallen. The trees have quieted their laughter. While the moon is at its Zenith, As I sit looking out of my window, I can't help but to gaze at the silhouette of the fall sky. Oh how quiet and effortlessly those clouds move as they keep watch over the darkened earth. The chill of the night air overwhelms the senses and it puts that special crispness to the hard ground. After awhile, one starts to feel the striking Zephyr that makes the bright colored leaves chime in the darkness, A chime that brings peace and tranquility to the heart of lovers! But the Autumn night may not last forever. Soon the moon will hide behind the hills while the sun is just beginning to open its eyes. But there will be other Autumn nights. And when there is I will be looking out my window, sharing its chimes. Joe Maher Life is queer with its twists and turns As everyone of us sometimes learns. And many a failure turns about When he might have won had he stuck it out. Don't give up though the pace seems slow. You may succeed with that final blow. Often the goal is nearer than it seems To a faint and faltering man who sometimes dreams. Often the struggler has given up When he might have captured that victor's cup. And he learned too late When the night slipped down How close he was to that golden crown. Success is failure turned inside out. The silver tint of the clouds of doubt. And you never can tell how close you are. It may be near when it seems far. So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit. It's when things seem worst that you NEVER QUIT! Michael E. We would like to extend very special Thank You's to Miss Geraldine Selby, our advisor, and Mr. David Murray, our photography advisor. In this year and for the past fourteen years, Miss Selby has given uncounted hours of her time and talents to assisting student affairs in producing TIGERS which BFHS students could own and keep with pride. Since a yearbook is primarily a picture history of a year in the life of a high school, Mr. Murray's photography assistance over the past seven years has been essential to the TIGER. We are grateful to them both, and we will miss them both. This year, many people deserve many thanks for helping us with our TIGER: Dr. Jean Higgins, our Superintendent of Schools; Members of the School Board; Principal Frank Jute; Mrs. Laree Riley and Mr. Jackson Allison, Assistant Principals; Mr. Robert Hacker and Mr. William Kness, faculty members; and Mrs. Patty Gerard of Stanley Studio. A special thanks goes to Mr. Larry Intihar of Jostens for his helpful advice. Finally, we would like to wish next year's staff and their new advisor, Mr. Richard Beighey, the best of luck in producing the TIGER of 1987. Kim Damaska, Editor Kathy Martin, Assistant Editor MON SI SIH1 A PARADE FOR CHARLIE You always did love a parade— Banners and flags in the breeze, The roll of drums. The split seconds of silence In the blinding blare of the brass Filled with trilling woodwinds. Somehow, your parades abolished reality. Suspended mortality. Real people became Brilliant orange and intense black Arms and legs Swinging and marching In harmonious cadence, Following the conductor: LOOK—how good we are! LISTEN—to our 76 trombones! STOP—and admire what we can do When we band together! How many parades did you promote. Organize, Lead, That suspended for students The mortality of cramped desks And converted pages of fine print Into superlatives of excellence? You believed in learning. But you helped students survive By urging them to dream Beyond themselves To that greater parade Of real men and women Who might dare to announce: LOOK—at me! I'm somebody! We walked to the curb, Subdued, Quiet, Across Tiger Alley, Along Eighth Avenue. No banners waved. No brass blared, No drums rolled. Teacher, Principal, Conductor, Bandmaster, You became your own final parade. And now we must make our own parades On the streets of our own minds Out of our own memories. You always did love a parade. From Bill Kness April 21, 1986 Charles Pietro THE ORANGE AND THE BLACK Although Brighton always favors The Crimson and the Gold And Maroon and Gray are colors That make the Beaver Bold We will own the lilies slender, Nor honor shall they lack, While the Tiger stands defender Of the Orange and the Black. Through the four long years of high school 'Midst the scenes we know so well As the mystic charms to knowledge We vainly seek to spell. We will win athletic victories On the football field or track; Still we'll work for dear old high school And the Orange and the Black. When the cares of life o'ertake us. Mingling fast our locks with gray. Should our dearest hopes betray us, False fortune falls away. Still we banish care and sadness As we turn our mem'ries back And recall those days of gladness 'Neath the Orange and the Black.
