SMITH Superintendent of Schools To the students of B.F.H.S. he is known for his inspiring and elevating talks, which always succeed in getting the point across with an added touch of humor; for his frequent attendance at important school functions, which shows the great interest which he has in our school and its pupils; and for his many comments upon our school, which are always helpful and encouraging. His friendly smile and very appreciated helpfulness are qualities which make him an indispensable figure in our school life. SHIRLEY CONNER Secretary 6 BERTHA COX Secretary J. NEAL MATHEWS The person most essential to Beaver Falls Senior High School, without question, is our Principal, Mr. Mathews. He is the driving force behind most of the advancements and improvements which occur in our school. His constant striving to make our High School the best possible for both students and faculty prove his unquestionable loyalty to B.F.H.S. We are fortunate indeed to have such a forward-thinking, energetic, and cheerful man as our principal. SWW £ctccc ztio i DR. IRVING BENNETT President ROBERT G. BEDISON Vice President 7 ROY J. PARRISH Director of Activities Assistant Principal She is the one who aids so many students in choosing a career. Her office is full of material especially valuable to college minded seniors. Her cheerful greeting invites all to confide their personal problems, too. For the first time in several years, we have an assistant principal. We know we can go to him with our problems, for he is not a newcomer among us. He helps us in many ways. 9 LEROY R. ANGLE B.S., M.Ed., Pennsylvania State University . . . General Woodworking. IN MEMORIAM He sang of joy: whate'er he knew of sadness He kept for his own heart's peculiar share: So well he sang, the world imagined gladness To be sole tenant there. For dreams were his, and in the dawn's fair shining His spirit soared beyond the mounting lark; But from his lips no accent of repining Fell when the days grew dark; And though contending long dread Fate to master. He failed at last her enmity to cheat, He turned with such a smile to face disaster That he sublimed defeat. ROSS THE SEASON It has been a long time since a Beaver Falls Basketball team has had a better record than our boys this year. We began by winning our first two league games and finished by winning the last one. We won both games from two of our rivals. There were only two fr 5m whom we did not win, and one of these was the district champion, and the other took second. THE JUNIOR VARSITY The boys on the Junior Varsity also had a successful season. They played the same schools as the Varsity. Their record shows five wins in seven pre-season games, and seven wins in the twelve regular season games—twelve out of nineteen. Some of these boys should be ready to help bring in victories next year. 100 SquaeC '5£- '59 FRONT: McAllister, Niedra, Niedbala, Davis, A. CreacH, D. Creach, Jacobs, Manager. The team scored well against Ambridge and Beaver in a meet at Ambridge. In the Beaver County meet, with eleven teams entered, Beaver Falls finished sixth, and in the Midland Invitational we finished fifth. The Mile Relay Team was undefeated.
