The discussions, special reports, and notebook work in my history classes have made me conscious of so- cial and political problems in the world today. I cannot tell you Whether there's going to be a third term, what effect ladies' styles will have on the European situation or whom Baby Sandy will marryg but I can tell you why you get a loaf of bread for ten cents when it costs the baker six cents to make it, who the twenty- third president Was, and why Napol- eon was defeated. The obvious reason for studying foreign languages is to obtain a Wee bit of culture, but digging deeper, I've found other reasons. When you take French, you get more than verb endings and daily exercises. You learn about the French people-their thriftiness, inventive genius, customs, and contributions to civilization.- The fascinating life of the ancient Romans is revealed through the translation of renowned Works of the Latin poets and orators. sfzcz 'zfmznfi wi' 'W Q

I'm not exag- gerating for I've seen some of their work: the announcements, the tests C?J, and the programs for special occasions. If the task of running a mimeograph, adding machine, or switchboard ever confronts you, you can always shift the burden to the shoulders of an office practice worker.
