The Beavers got off to a good start by being rated one of the ten top teams in the state by the UPI. Then a defeat by West Bend and a tie by Hartford made winning the conference trophy doubtful. The Beavers came back but could not regain their momentum. Beaver Dam finished the season with a 4-3-l record. l l l ROW 1. L. Fitch, L. Zieske, T. Paine, B. Kaul, P. Taylor, D. Voss, T. Davis, S. Z The people on the following pages aren't only out to make moneyg they are here be- cause they are dedicated to their work. Now it is our turn to honor them in this small way. These men--Mr. Soderberg, guidance counselorg Mr. Whitnallg principalg and Mr. Cudnofsky, assistant principal-- are the school's executives. They make sure everything is running smoothly and that the students get every pos- sible help in learning and in growing up. H4 Mr. Donald Duerst is our business manager. This means that he deals with our financial situations. He does not only deal with the problems of Beaver Dam, but also with the whole school district. Mr. Eric Becker is the superintendent of schools. He handles many of the schools problems. He is responsible for the management of the schools in Beaver Dam, not only Senior High, but also the rest of the public schools. These are the members of the Board of Education. FRONT ROW: Dr. C. C. Sterrenberg, Kenneth Camenga, Robert Brower, Barbara Oakley, Eric Becker. STANDING: Donald Duerst, Verlin Schoenfeld, Jack Hartzheim, Frank Woodworth, Wilbur Messer, Emerson Kellom. H5 Mr. King is Head of the English department, and teaches Sr. English and speech. He also controls 5170 of the voting power in all his classes. Smiling Mr. Baker is the sophomore English teacher, along with Miss Kepler. He also is the cross country coach. Miss Kepler is one of our new sophomore English teachers and the advisor of Drama Club. Mr. Taylor is new to our school this year too. He teaches English and publications. Miss Tullis is one of the senior and junior English teachers. The people on these two pages are concerned with the languages. Al- though most of them are concerned with English, Mr. Parry and Mr. I-leindel are concerned with Spanish and Latin. Their job is to teach students how to write and speak effectively, and also how to appreciate the work of the masters, Two years of English are required, while senior English is elective. Mrs. Seefeldt is a very active teacher. She teaches English and coaches forensics. One of our two foreign languages, Spanish, is taught Miss Hill is our librarian. She also serves as ad by Mr. Richard Parry- . visor of the Dewey Decimal Club. She is shown with her intern, Miss Janice Paulson. mwwssmm Mr. Heindel is our Latin instructor. However, he serves not only us, but the Junior High Students. These teachers compose the science sec- tion of our curriculum. Science is a growing field, with more students taking these subjects than ever before. Although these teachers are cramped for space, especially lab area, they did an admirable job. Biology is a required course, while chemistry and physics are not. Mr. Swain is the only new teacher for this subject this year. H8 Much of physics deals with lab work and equipment, as Mr. Richardson and his students well know. New to our school this year, Mr. Swain handles part of the biology classes. Mr. Snyder, one of the biology teachers, keeps up with his subject by going to Trees for Tomorrow camp every year. Miss Altemus, of our chemistry department, was lucky enough to get two interns, Mr. Kracht and Mr. Malek. Mr. McDonald knows that physical fitness is important, which is demonstrated by the bulletin board he is work- ing on. Miss Judd, a new teacher in the physical education department, must be correcting those basketball tests which we all failed. Beside serving as the boy's gym teacher, Mr. Klagge also coaches the Varsity basketball team. Physical education has been growing in importance these past few years . It is fortunate for us that we have four gym teachers, because we can better learn a variety of skills, All four teachers are new this year. All, too, have extra duties. Miss Judd and Miss Ladwig handle the GAA and the cheerleaders. Mr, McDonald and Mr. Klagge coach sports activities. The physical educa- tion department is bigger and better because of the efforts of these four. H9 Mr. Derleth holds a dual jobg he teaches driver education and serves as our athletic director.
