L. to r.: Margaret Papacosta., Jeanne Fowler, Janet Thiel, Joy Merrill, queeng Janet Batker, Verna Ruehl Jean Knaup. Page 62 Homecoming fever spread through the corridors of Beaver Dam High School as October 4 and 5 drew near. Homecoming events started off with a bang when the high school boys selected seven girls to reign over the festivities including Margaret Papacosta, Jean Knaup, Jeanne Fowler, Verna Ruehl, Janet Thiel, Janet Batker, and Joy Merrill. Joy, a iunior, was chosen queen. The Student Council was in charge of the Queen's float, Pep Rally, Homecoming Dance, Queen's election, window decorations, the parade, badges, and clean-up. As the fever soared, the snake dance and bonfire were soon in sight. The snake dance was led through the town by the cheerleaders. With lungs and legs aching from running and yelling, the students wound up with the victory march at the athletic field where a huge bonfire was soon in progress. After speeches by the coaches and players and scores of cheers, everyone departed to wait for the next night's game with Hartford. Somehow during the next morning, beautiful floats emerged on old trucks decorated with pre-fabricated ideas. First prize in the float contest was awarded to Nature Club and Spanish Club received second. Led by Co-captains Gib Wild and Dick Swenson, the Golden Beavers upset the Orange and Black team 20-13. The Dance and the Queen's coronation at the dance were the final touches to a highly successful and enioyable Homecoming. PROM K ' Elbgeig gf-pqay as . . .. . , A Carol Braemer Bill Kohl The 1952 Prom was truly a Nuit de Fantasia --a Night of Fantasy. The gym was an eerie spectacle of fantastic pastel trees under which were numerous flamingos and swans. This was highlighted by a beautiful moss-covered rock garden. Also a huge waterfall created an illusion of grandeur as it fell behind Ron Harvey and his orchestra. Mr. Harvey's organization provided excellent music from 8:30 p. m until 12:30 a. m. The high points of the evening were the Grand March and the crown- ing of the Queen. The Grand March was led by Junior Class President Bill Kohl, and the queen he chose, Carol Braemer. She was crowned by Senior Class President Gib Wild. The prom servers which this year included Jane Van Akkeren, Janice Wilson, Sue Silbernagel, Karen Harmison, Orthwin Gallitz, Howard West- phal, Dennis Guse, and Eugene Mason were to be found behind a fantastic well. The receptionists were Carol Meister and John Hoyer. Page 63 All School Play 4,54 Back row: J. Temkln, E. 0st, A. Dohrman, L, Sutton, J. Oestrelch, D. Jones, M. Belling, L.
