oreworal This edition of THE BRIDGE is an attempt to portray a cross-section of the activities, curricular and co-curricular, for which Beaver Creek High School is known and respected. Realizing that the purpose of education is to provide an environment conducive to the physical, mental, moral, social, and emotional devel- opment of each student in and for a democratic society, the administra- tion continues to broaden the curriculum and to increase the number of meaningful activities in order to meet the'individual needs of the student. Fundamentally, the philosophy of education at Beaver Creek High School is that the students receive training which will make possible intelligent participation in the democratic society of which the school, the community, the state, and the nation are integral parts. Successful fulfillmentofsuchaphilosophy demands the loyal cooper- ation of everyone even remotely connected with the school. The degree of success now being attained through this program is made evident throughout this edition by portraying many of the activities involved in the training ofcitizens to think and fudge independently and to function effectively as individuals and as a group.
