elective. . . Students who participate in the athletic program at Beaver Creek may choose one or several activities if they can meet the academic, physical, and ethical re- quirements. One year of health and physical education is required of all students, and many participate in the regular physical education program. Participants in the interscholastic program undergo a thorough physical examina- tion by a local physician. Girls participate in basketball, softball, rhythm classes, and calisthenics. Bas- ketball and softball are interscholastic sports, but by far the most important is basket- ball. Football, basketball, baseball, wrestling, and tumbling are offered for boys. Working and playing together as individuals and as teams, students develop a sense of cooperation and loyalty, fair play and good sportsmanship, and wholesome competition.
