PROPHECY SHADOWS IN THE MOONLIGHT I stood on the Bridge in the shadows As the clocks were striking the hour, And a full moon rose o'er the campus Gilding Beaver Creek like a golden flower. I saw Beaver Creek's reflection Casting a dreamy glow. And I caught a glimpse of the future As the Seniors come and go. And far in that hazy distance Of that lonely night in Nay, Shaclowy figures of the future Seemed to pause, then flit away. A newspaper office rises into view, Billie, City Editor, speaks clear and true To foreign correspondents, Christa and Gail: To Berlin and Moscow, and do not fail I Next is a hospital, John Hopkins by name, Where in surgeon's gown, I see Elaine. And among the nurses and internes. . .Guess who? Myrtle, Tharon, Trema, and Shirley Wood, too. A scene in the courtroom: Billy Norris, Judge. Get on with the case, 'though it's pure fudge. Your Honor, says Joe, let's not be funny. Contempt, shouts Bill to the District Attorney. Then from the pulpit looking down James Allen, clergyman, with a frown, Waits for pianist, Kitty Watson, to try to see Whether she or the choir is out of key. Teachers? A few from our class I seep Lorene, Inez, Dale, Jay, and Betsy. In schools and colleges both far and near They teach our youth year after year. Fill 'er up, says Dan from a Cadallic Eight, fHis business ventures have made him greatl. Check your oil ? asks Carl as he strides into view, fHe's an oil man now, his own business, tool. Four-star General Howard McNeill Orders on a mission hard to conceal, Bill G. and Willie, whose future's uncertain, Men, on your wayp raise that Iron Curtain. Housewives, mothers and career women, too, Are Grace, Wilma, and Mary Lou. They perform their duties with charm and grace, And a happy smile wreathes their faces. On the cover of LIFE I happened to see Lois Ann, Powers Model, smiling happily. Article inside: Is Man Made to Tax? Written and signed: Phillips, Max. Newspaper photographer, our own Dean Bare, Of famous persons gets his share. See, with the smile so gallant and fierce, President, Georgia Tech, Henry W. Pierce. A new star makes Hollywood shine. See Charlotte Severt in This Man ls Mine . Music by Don, so light and cheeryg Directed by Neal, make-up by Mary. In professional basketball, calm and serene, Famous the world over are Wade and Dean. Also in the limelight of radio and screen Are the Grogan Brothers: they sing like a dream. Another Rita brings us delight Through her new book, BY DAY AND BY NIGHT And Johnny Phillips, an ardent fan, Doubles as Rita's publicity man. Across the nation on the TV Screen Flash Cinda and Van, the new comedy team. And with two new stars is opera shot-- Well-known Dot Hughes and Martha Scott. In homes where comfort and happiness gleam Are Lucy, Wanda, Eva, Della, and Nadine. While in the Library of Congress, from fall to fall, I see Martha Jane Harless and Elsie Ball. Paintings exhibited, he's a famous man,' A. B. Weaver's fulfilled his plan. And as critic of the literary world, Christine Phillips has her fame unfurled. Ken Greer, now working with the F. B. I, Is on the trail of the Communist spy. Assisted by Peggy and Marlyn, too, They make Uncle Sam a famous crew. And in the White Howe, iust over the way, Secretary to the President of the U. S. A. , Mannon Blevins knows all the secrets of State, And she alone can predict her fate. Ah, that cop has a familiar face--- Tim Calloway, saving the human race. A ticket he hands to Private Nurse Faye As to her new case she now makes her way. A dentist's office, now new and white, ls filled with patients day and night, With receptionist Shirley, and without a care, By appointment only . . .our own Phil Haire. At W. C. a new face is seen-- Gwendolyn Lemly, of women the Dean. And fulfilling the duties of instructor and wife, Loretta Houck now leads a double life. Alas, the vision passes on--- And vanishes into the moonlight wan. I find myself at B. C. alone Cherishing a future that's still unknown.
