In league competition we suffered only one defeat against live victories. Opening against Roosevelt, the team showed how thrilling football can be by winning the game in the final seconds on a long pass thrown by Leroy Thomas complete to Bob Anderson in the end zone. The next four games were also Beaumont victories, taking Soldan- Blewett, 39-0: Central, I2-0: Cleveland, 40-19: and Southwest, I3-7. At the end of the Southwest game, the league picture found Beaumont in first place, followed closely by McKinley, who had one loss. This added spice to the competition as the Goldbugs were meeting us for the final game. Both teams were ready for the game and it was neck and neck until the last quarter when McKinley passed into our end zone for a touchdown which gave them the victory by a score of l3-7 and also a league co-championship shared with the Jackets The team next year will be minus such fine players as Don Dunard Bob Anderson Jim Greco George Hepburn and Rich Scanlon but Coaches Close and Stanton will have many good players who have had experience this year to fill their places Among this group will be seventeen returning lettermen CHEERLEADERS, RAH! They are taught the genuine value of music, whether it be compositions by such immortals as Bach, Beethoven. and Brahms. or by modern composers. The orchestra plays for such events as graduation exercises, Memorial Day assembly, and operettas. Students at Beaumont feel that any extra-curricular activity, such as those mentioned, is made a little more extra-special because the orchestra has lent its presence and performance.
