'Q' I ' Q M N t 'e I W ' to 1:17. ee Th' Jew? a UCQUJ INTRAMURAL SPORTS The program of intramural sports has been installed at Beaumont for the purpose of giving eyery boy of the first four terms the opportunity to partici pate in the sport of his choice These boys organ17e themselves into teams by adyisory groups or other groups of their own choosing whichever is the most practical and play after school as often as facilities are available Games are scheduled for them and they compete among themselves for the Beaumont Intramural Championship of the particular sport which is in season This championship is only a name or designation at the present time However it is hoped that the program will gain additional support as it grows so that trophies can be ayy arded the winning teams This program is largely supported by the board of education but football and baseball equipment is furnished by the Beaumont athletic fund The scheduling of games and general supervision of play is under the direction of a faculty member However much of the credit for the success of the program in 1947 was due a few members of the Beaumont Service Club who devoted much of their time after school as referees and score keepers for the games The boys most faithful in this service were Jack Barry Gordon Begeman Clifford Duncan Frank Hallemann and Elmer Huber Most of these boys haye volun these boys are rendering to their school and community At the same time they are receiving training in sports management which may be of yalue to them in the future The intramural program at Beaumont began in September 1947 with Mr Raymond Knoeppel in charge Mr Knoeppel left Beaumont during that term to become principal of a St Louis elementary school and his duties were taken oyer by Mr Robert Day is who had been assisting him The intramural athletic schedules are alwavs open to Beaumont High School boys of the Iirst four terms who are not members of the Varsity or B squads All you have to do is be a good sport enjoy playing the game and be a member of a team You alvy ays have the opportunity to try out for the Varsity or B squads The intramural staff of referees and time keepers always need help lf you like this kind of actiyity yn mt to do something for your school and are capable use yy ould like to haye you with us On Hrmir Il i X - l I h V1 Y 7 1 ' v l -- .
