Class History We, the class of '57 finish our final year at Beaufort High, and we hope we have outgrown the reputation bestowed upon us when we entered high school. Looking back on our freshman year, in 1953, we were no different from the fresh- men that had gone before us. We were scared! Scared of the duties we would have to perform and scared of our upper-classmen. All in all that year was wonderful; for our leaders made it so. We can thank Mrs. Fodrie, Mrs. Beveridge, and Mr. McQuaid for the help and kind understanding all freshmen look for. The end of that year came and presto. Sophomores! We had a grand time that year. The teachers began to see us for what we really were. We were ho longer scared students. We had someone below us now! The Seniors, at that time, began to be more friendly with us, and a couple of Senior boys became interested in some Sophomore girls. We gave the Seniors a beach party, and the memory of it will al- ways linger in our minds. We grew up that year with the help of our faithful Mrs. Fodrie and Mr. Harrell. In 1955, we claimed the title of Juniors. We had to show to all we were worthy of that title. We were determinded to do just that; for when we entered high school we were given the reputation of being a wild and disorganized group. Our banquet was the turning point for us. We showed our teachers we could work together and really accomplish something great. Naturally, every banquet is thought to have been the best yet, and ours was no exception. The Night Club was a hit, and it was all done through partnership and determination. We want to thank Mrs. Shuey and Mrs. Lawrence for being so patient with us, for they are the ones who deserve the credit for making our Junior year the best yet. Now we are Seniors! Our minds are broader and our hearts happier, for we feel we have done much for our school. This year will never be forgotten. No matter where we go or what we do, we'll always remember Miss Duncan and Miss Smith for the guidance they gave to us. And now it's over! Four of the happiest years we could ever experience. This year has been great for each and everyone of us. The sports, activities, the Senior Privileges, and our Christmas Program have helped to make it great. We, the Seniors of '57, want to thank you, the facutly, for showing us the right road to a better education and for making our horizons brighter and our ambitions more meaningful as we look to the future years that lie before us.
