ONWARD ' shouted the pioneer xn 1854 as he hurrxed to break the Vlfglll so1l of the new terr1tory Nebraska And Onward too shout the records as one looks over the progress of Beatnce Boards of Educauon Only a few p1oneers in 1862 had the foresight to imagine and plan for the development of Nebr aska as a state and to prepare for the needed education The forertmners of today fought for the ideals on which the first school in Gage County was built in 1862 on the site of the present Jumor High By constant attention research watchfulness and planning our schools have progressed justas the statehas These pmneers saw the need of a high school and accom plxshed it just as our present Board took measures for our new modern htgh school.
