Dr. William Staerkel was chosen by the School Board to head the school system as Superin- tendent. Occupying a great deal of Dr.Staerkel's time was the elemen- tary school bond issue giving Bea- trice four new elementary schools. The new Senior High Principal is Dr. A. L. McPherran. We can be proud of the fact that our High School is the only one in the state whose principal holds a Doctorate. Miss Dorothy Beatty returned for her second year as head of the Guidance Department. Roberto Switzer All Sports Queen 1954-1955 Banquet Honors All Sports This year for the first time, Bea- trice High School held an Orange and Black All Sports Banquet and Prom, tak- ing the place of the football banquet and prom held in the past. After much preparation on the part of the B Club and the Zip Club, the long anticipated event took place on March 25, 1955. Rev. Rex Sample was toastmaster at the banquet, held in the high school gym. After a tasty baked ham dinner, the coaching staff and special guests were introduced by Dr. William M. Staerkel. Aletha Parde, president of Zip Club, welcomed the lettermen and Bill Cook re s po n de d on their behalf. The four head coaches gave short reviews of their seasons. Entertainment during the ban- quet was provided by the Girls' Triple Trio, the Girls' Octet and the Boys' Oc- tet. The highlight of the banquet was the crowning of Roberta Switzer as the 1955 Orange and Black All Sports Queen. She reigned over the dance held immed- iately after the banquet.
