There have been many that have come and gone that remember her as the most wonderful person they have ever met. She works hard taking care of the business of our school and keeping everyone satisfied. We hope there are many more years ahead of you, Ma . On September 2, 1942, we, a group of scared little boys and girls, entered the first grade at Bearden School. Our first year was the beginning of numerous friendships, which still exist. Those who started in the first grade are Betty Scarbrough, Mae Brisco, Arthur Lowe, Nancy Neely, John Peters, John Rose, Lewis Smith, Joe Strange, Bobby Walker, Richard Me Cur ry, Larry May, Shirley Bur gin, Ben Cox, Landon Duncan, Anne Holcombe, and Elizabeth DeArmond. Our second and third years of school were spent in the Little White House and the auditorium. In these two years we had several additions to our class, as well as some subtractions. The additions were Lee Morris, Bud Nunley, and George Revell. The years between the third and seventh grades were very rugged, since mostof them were spent in the delapidated barracks. Here, there were several more additions; JoAnne Baumann, Bob Fabian, A1 Brownlee, Virginia Bryson, Jack Burleson, Merle Bowles, Ed Grodeman, Hattie Hood, Tommie Lively, Kathleen Maxey, Jimmy McDaniels, Bruce Ogle, Roberta Oswald, Gerry Rimmer,Mary Nell Tipton, Bob Webb, and Paul Whisman. We are proud to say we were the first eighth grade to be in the new building. From neighboring schools came Bettye Garrison, Paul Dean, Barbara and Dorthy Satterfield, and Betty Winkle. Mrs. Helsey and Mr. MacPher son were our Sponsors for the Freshman year. Our officers were Larry May, Pat Kelly, Elizabeth DeArmond, Burble Owenby, and Billy Biddle. Evelyn Davis and Burble Owenby were chosen as Class Favorites. Our class enrollment began to grow by leaps and bounds. We could not start to name them for there are so many. Our Sponsors for the Sophomore year were Mr. Carroll, Mrs. Rose and Coach Stephenson. Our class officers were Billy Biddle, President; Larry May, Treasurer; Norman Flanigan, Social Chairman; Nancy Neely, Secretary; Shirley Bedell, Vice President. Billy Biddle and Evelyn Davis were Class Favorites. Larry May was elected President in our Junior year. The other officers were Elizabeth DeArmond, Secretary; Norman Flanigan, Social Chairman; Paul Whisman, Treasurer; Bud Nunley, Vice President. Mrs. Aslinger and Mrs. Lancaster were our very efficient Sponsors. Our Class Favorites were Burble Owenby and Helen Armstrong. Well, our last year has finally ended. There are only seventy-two students in the class. Mrs. Lowry, Mrs. Reynolds, and Mrs. Clark were our Sponsors. Our class was presided over by Bud Nunley, and with the help of Nancy Neely as Vice President we have proceeded splendidly.
