[IASS HI By John Dowell Our class of nineteen forty-eight Of only thirteen strong, Is going forth to meet its fate In life’s strange human throng. Four years we’ve been at Bearden High. It‘s resonant walls have grown quite dear. We now must say a fond good-by, As graduation day draws near. Faithful teachers have done their best To help us day by day, To govern self in wisdom Lest we falter on life’s way. The alumni beckons us with courage, To goals we hope to reach; To build our hopes and plans with vantage That others we may teach. Bonds of friendship we have made Will be unending as the sun; Father time, we hope will never fade The memories these years have spun. After the sound of our Angelus, The Master Teacher we shall see. May the grades that He shall give us Be only A's and B’s.
