E. top status with boys, girls In harmony with current trends, Riverites were keenly aware of the importance of keeping phys- ically fit. Spring and autumn days brought gym- nasts outdoors for softball, kickball, and football. Calisthenics and exercises, too, played an im- portant part in the physical fitness program- Indoors, basketball, tumbling, and swimming in- trigued males while volleyball and basketball vied with modern dance to develop poise and phySins11 stamina in female devotees.
