Service groups helped Bears function in a democratic way. Each first hour selected home room representatives. After meeting with the council, representatives reported back to home- rooms. The Safety Council, formed to promote safety around school and within the communities, received a national award for its efforts in regu- lating parking and educating the studentbody in safety practices.
