UST THE RIGHT. . . PEOPLE Windows And Mirrors here must come the moment when . . . all your mirrors turn into windows. That is the moment of growing up. The adolescent looks inwardg the adult can look outward. These words of Pamela Frankau are as relevant today as they were years ago when spoken by her. As people grow up they look inward through mirrors at themselves. Am I popular? Am I good-look- ing? What can I do so my friends will like me? These questions are bound to be asked by adolescents as they struggle through the trying times of teenage years. Before a per- son can be or have a true friend, it is impor- tant to become one's own best friend. After that, people can look out the windows toward the millions of others that make up the world and choose their friends. When asked the question, What do you value most about your best friend? this is how a few Bear Creek students responded. A best friend is somebody who you can talk to and they keep it to themselves. You never have to worry about it being spread all over school, commented Whitney Traylor. My best friend is always there when I need her. She's very honest and nice, added Melanie Johanningsmeier. As these comments suggest, the students at Bear Creek are beginning to look out their windows. They are opening themselves to all the wonderful experiences that true friend- ships can bring. Thanks to these people they have made it just the right year! For these freshman, friends are the best medicine. Julie Kilburn and Chamaine Rivera take a moment together in the hall. . 18 Student Life Tswy

wwwmwwwwmawwmmamwaawmwawwmwmmammm-wwem UST THE RIGHT. . . TIMES Changes emember the kid with the crazy hair? Or the girl with the strange blouse? Fads were invented to be noticed and this year's fashions weren't an exception. With new individuals came new ways of ex- pressing their unique qualities. Many students have had different ideas on what was the newest fad on the '87-'88 school year. Being tan seems to be more important this yearj' observed Holly Mills. New styles of clothing also adorned the bo- dies of Bear Creek's students. I thought Bill Lucas' fraternity shoes were the big thing this year, joked John Lee about Bill's leath- er Rock-Flops. Tie dye shirts were also something new this year plus other articles of attire. I've noticed that crimping irons are being used a lot more, Susan Murphy commented on the new way students styled their hair. Also, it seems the New Wave look is here to stay. A motley group of Seniors, affectionately called The Hoard, all stress the New Wave style and create a pleasant diversion with their softball games on Friday nights. In this day in age ideas as well as fashions are in constant change. Kane French, one of Bear Creek's few male cheerleaders, pushed individuality past the limits of normal high school trends, lt's time for a change in role models and I think I've started that change. Several other guys want to know if they could join the squad next year. This proves that fads are not only ex- pressed by the shirt on someone's back, but the feelings inside their head. smammwwwewvfeeawamwww-we--a-aaf,M..,... .mfs Mwmaa Fashion sometimes exceeds the serious Fit to be tied. mwsma-mmmMamaMwffamwwwwawmswmm-Nwaemwmawsasaamavasa H -:ssa:..r.essm.,w:.:.+wssswm:-::. www-mmwwm...asfmaaaaaa.awwwswwawwzazawmaw-aa.. .. .1 xvmwmwwfwamw--m-ww-ww-W -'W-W'-rw 'vv'v' we -fff , SSZZIJ.-Zu A-'Main QZTZZLEM,W:EEBegumWemfkgiiiwmwmwkgwiwwwyfwiiifgL' X271 W .ITTM , SH. ---5 ,,,-,M.M,,, 20 ...,,.,A fi...,.QmmQS5SSE..ZEf MN WM WWf'W if 6WW 'vwxgmfw-JW' N W w W 'W'WWW'W 'W W 'WW' W?-T-1.-we-W rrvxwwsmaamsw-f .-W-a...,.M- .g.:....p. . .... , ..,..
