CLASS HISTORY In the fall of 1953, lk excited freshman began their high school careers. Their names were Carlene Cartee, Mabel Foreman, Gary Gethmann, Gilda Goettsch, Roger Hertema, Jack Hill, Gerald Jones, Merle Lynch, Rodney McTurk, Marie Smith, Kent Thomas, Meta Viering, Betty Walter, and Joan Miller. Six members of the class, Gary Gethmann, Roger Hertema, Rodney McTurk, Kent Thomas, Meta Viering, and Betty Walter, had attended the Beaman School since kindergarten. Gilda Goettsch began kindergarten here, but moved away dur- ing 2nd grade. She returned again in 3rd. During this time Joan Miller had arrived in first grade. Merle Lynch started at Beaman in the hth year, and Jack Hill in the Sth. Both Carlene Cartee and Mabel Foreman joined in the 7th grade. Marie Smith departed during the first part of the freshman year, and Gerald Jones left in his sophomore year. The final member, Carol Rhinesmith, joined in the 10th grade. Our class stayed the same during the Junior and Senior yearm Though our class consisted of 13 members, we never considered it as being unlucky. we have had many events that we will always remember. MBJOP events of our Junior year were the Junior class play, uJumping Jewels,' and we will always remember our Junior-Senior Banquet. Highlights of our last year were such events as our Senior play, nGrandpa Goes To Collegegn going to the tournaments at Des Moinesg Junior-Senior Banquet, Baccalaureate, commencementg and putting out the annual. Our faculty for our Senior year was Mr. Mable, Hr. Sackett, Mrs. Campbell, Miss Yates, Mrs. Katzer, Mrs. McAllister and Mrs. Mable.
