Marshall Creamery Company, Inc. - Marshalltown - Phone 5?6S Iowa Printing Company - Marshalltown - Phone 3256 Class History - In the fall of 19'-I-3 and the spring of 'l4J4, Mrs. Oliver met lh pupils at the School House door. The kindergarten kids we'l1 list, one by one, Jed Simms, Richard Thomas, and Dale Johnson. These smiling faces marched down the hall- Barbara Storjohann, Gary Goettsch, and Phyllis Boll. Barbara Kopsa and Kathleen Lucas also fall in line, Masters Nichol, Connell, and Kuhl ---- Help to make this rhyme. Now who's that from the cloak room peering? Why it's Peggy Ladehoff and Fred Viering. We've listed them all, I think! Whoops, we forgot Larry Zinklll In 'MS we gained Gene Storjohann, but Thomas and Connell And on to second grade Mrs. Lynch sent us--happy and gay. Then Mrs. Lynch added to ner second grade clan, Larry Harris, Larry Blackford, and Janet Weatherman. And oh how it broke our heart, When from our class, Storjohann and Boll did part. The third grade was taught by Mrs. Johnson, We lost Goettsch and Nichol and gained Donald Dobson. In the fourth our teacher remained the same, Dobson, Weatherman, and Simms left-Velva Smoldt came, How quickly time in Miss Buhmann's Sth grade did go, Gary Goettsch is with us once more, you know. We hated to see Johnson leave, So we all sat down to grieve. In 6th grade Larry Rogers moved here, We won't forget Ann Elmore and Eugene Jones never fear. When Harris and Blackford left the troop, There were 2 less in Miss Dannen's group. when Mrs. Hilsabeck taught the 7th grade crew, Rogers and Smoldt departed and Jones did too. We're in the assembly, alas! A different room for every class. Gerald Hansen and Larry Harris came that year, Tom and Richard Cartee are also here. Seems as though there's someone more, Sure, here comes Helen Conrad through the door. Initiation was fun in our Freshman year, Tom Wilson and Barbara Prosser joined us here. Richard Cartee left us soon, This made one less in our platoon. Gerald Ralston joined us, while Prosser moved away, This happened in our Sophmore year, I forgot to say. Giving the Jr.-Sr. Banquet made this year fly, To Tom Cartee we said good-bye. With all those we picked up and lost along the way, There are 12 Seniors to Graduate this May. moved away, CLASS PROPHECY May 22, 1966 turned out to be a rainy day. The pre- ceding days in May had, of course, been beautiful, but the day of the reunion of the class of 1956 will be tomorrow, so we'll probably have rain everywhere. Our class had decided to hold the reunion at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City. Since I had been taking most of my vacations by train, I thought it a good idea to go by TWA Airlines this year. When I arrived to get my reservation at the Des Moines airport I found, to my great surprise, the reservationist to be Barbara Kopsa, a classmate of 1956. 'What have you heard from our other classmates?n I asked. nJust a few minutes ago Tom Kuhl and Gerald Hansen drove up in their new Cadillac. The two of them are in partnership in a big ranch down in Texas. They bought their tickets for the trip to New York, and are leaving tomorrow morning. That's when I leave, too. WI wonder if any of the other seniors of HS6' will be boarding the plane tomorrow?u I asked. Barb replied, NI go off duty in a few minutes, so I guess we'11 have to wait til tomorrow to find out.' The time came for us to leave. I saw Tom, Gerald, and Barb get on the plane. Just as I was about to board, someone tapped me on the shoulder. To my delight it was Peggy Ladehoff She said she was an assistant nurse to Dr. Larry Zink, who has been doing research concerning asthma. Both were also grad- uates of Beaman High in 1956. We talked for a few minutes and then boarded the plane. During our stop at Detroit, Michigan, we picked up another passenger--a professional basketball player. He turned out to be none other than Tpm Wilson. We had an enjoyable trip to New York--all of us talking over old times. When we stepped off the plane at LaGuardia Field, who was there to meet us but a star reporter from the New York Times. We found him to be Fred Viering. With him was his private secretary, Kathleen Lucas. Both were planning to go to the reunion and were writing a story about it for the paper. After meeting Fred and Kathy we decided to each go our separate ways and do a little.sightsee1ng before the reunion. At noon I stopped for lunch at Radio City Station. Today there were to be two speakers--a senator and a state conserva- tionist. The senator turned out to be Gerald Ralston and the conservetionist, Gary Goettsch. When each had finished his speech they came over to my table. We decided to go to the Waldorf Astoria together. The time for the reunion arrived and as we entered the Waldorf Astoria dining room we were met by Ann Elmore. She was the nutritionist. Behind her I could see Barbara Storjohann, who was a clerk-typist at the Waldorf. We all spent an enjoyable evening reminiscing, before each had to leave to return to his busy life. All are widely separ- ated in their various walks of life, but each has fond memories of the school days spent at Beaman High School. The scene was the main room of a hotel owned by Mr. and Mrs. Scott. During the act a valuable string of pearls was stolen from their neighbors, Mr. and Mrs. Griswold. Of course, the suspicion falls on the Scotts. The real thief hid the pearls behind a picture in the Scott living room, planning to pick them up later. Between a mix-up of love notes of four teen- agers in the house and the activities of two picture buyers the jewels are discovered. They were then passed from person to person because each one was afraid to turn them in for fear of being accused of the burglary. In the end all turns out well as the thief is caught, the pearls returned, and the youngsters plan for marriage. We took in 8100.35 on the ple and 815.75 on refreshments. After expenses, we realized a balance of 393.70 on the play.
