Senior Prophecy One day in November, 1935, May Sweet was waiting patient- ly for the mail. This was her fifth year in India and the mail had never been delayed so long before. The natives had learned to like her and she had never been so lonesome before. She was trying to consol herself by thinking of the many souls that she had saved while a mis- sionary. There are four letters for you, said the mail carrier. May was so delighted that she could hardly wait until she could read them. She soon learned that the home folks were all well and were just finishing corn husking. This was good news but she still wished that she might be home with them. The other three letters were from New York City, Montana, and Beaman, Iowa. She could not think who it was that was writing to her from New York, but she scon learned that it was from her old classmate, Pearl Schultz. The letter read as follows: Dear Friend: As I had a little time I thought I would write to you.' I had heard about your being in India and what splendid work you were doing. I have been busy with my music and school work at Iowa City and in Illinois. I am still working on my music and shall soon travel with a lecture course for the practice that it will give me. Have you heard yet what Josephine Gurnesey is doing? She is running for the election as senator of this state. She surely has proved herself worthy in politics and I believe that she will be elected. When she visited me a week ago she seemed like a different girl, so talkative and jolly. Wishing you further success in your work, I shall close, Your friend, PEARL SCHULTZ. The next letter that she read was from Mildred Eimers. Page Nineteen
