N , 75,63 MM, Saw X ! xii JN N sf ei fi., We have come to the end of another school year, but to us of the senior class of 1955, it marks the completion of many memorable events in which we partici- pated. Although everyone has stood out in his own right, there are those members in the senior class who have brought noticeable fame and honor to our school, and those who have been outstanding in various activities while at Beall. Coordination, speed, a strong defense, intricate plays, heavy scoring power, and high team spirit was Coach Ebbie Finzel's recipe for his W.M.I. championship basketball team. We indeed commend them on their great success. This year, the football team, under the coaching of Ray Hull, made its debut under the newly installed stadium lights. Our team had a good season, one of which we can be very proud. VVith 6 wins and only 4 losses, we saw a lot of good ball playing and some mighty hard-fought games. Soccer headed off a well-rounded athletic program which produced many of our outstanding athletes. Wrestling, a somewhat recent sport at Beall, was one of the toughest hard- luck teams in the area with no wins. But a number of noticeable senior wrestlers racked up individual wins and the team gained a reputation of sportsmanship. joel Downey brought honor to Beall by becoming Boy Governor in Maryland Model Legislature ..... Adam Baer. by placing in the Voice of Democracy contest ..... Jim Catherman and Ken Kelly showed us their musical talent in band work ..... Senior cheerleaders Janice Bradley, Joann Tomlinson, Tickie Morgan, and Darlene Richards were the center of our school spirit ..... Our Dramatic Club, under the direction of Mrs. Bittner and Mr. Hutcheson, produced two excellent plays, Meet Me In St. Louis , and January Thawf' The acting of such dramatists as Janet Walters, Tom Richards, Janet Blake, and Vir- ginia Fleigle will long live on our stage ..... We are indeed filled with sadness at the thought of parting from our class- mates, our school, and our teachers, but we are thrilled with the thoughts of the new and adventurous life before us. Soon, while listening to solemn songs and speeches, our minds may wander back through our senior year, reliving our happy experiences in the year of 1955 ..... What kind of a year was it? No sight could be more thrilling than that of the band. dressed in snappy uniforms of blue and gold. marching down the Held to the rhyth- mical notes of the combined talents of the members. During the year. great improvement has been shown. due to the hard work of director. Frank R. Munson. The aspiring young musicians of the group have made our band one of the best in the county. Formations and rousing music have provided a treat at football games. pep rallies and parades. The band also plays for school programs and climax the year's activities with a concert in the spring. Much credit should be given these hard-working young people and their lead- er. for our band is praised and enjoyed by all. SENIOR CHORUS A fine reputation has been gained by this group of students for the many musi- cal programs presented by them eaeh year. The public as well as the student body. looks forward to such events. which pro- vide outstanding entertainment of a musi- cal nature. Many weeks of rehearsal are necessary to insure fine performances. but members enjoy this activity and give their time willingly. Included in the year's events were the INIinstrel-Variety Show. Handel's '6Mes- siahf' the Gilbert and Sullivan operetta. The Pirates of Penzance. the All-Coun- ty Choral Festival. and the Spring Con- cert, in which chorus and band combine. Under the able direction of R. Mon- roe Harris the chorus has become a very active organization with worthwhile proj- ects which bring prestige to our school.
