The day before the Homecoming Game, a group of high school students came to Ebenezer's shop. They asked him if he would come to the game tomorrow and support the team. Support the team? , cried Ebenezer, Bah, humbug! , and slammed the door in their faces. Then Bobo Crockett, one of the most diligent workers in the factory, approached Ebenezer. rr r 4

here lived an old miser named g Ebenezer Scrunge who owned a factory in Beacon that produced Varsity jackets and letters. Ebenezer hated his work (except for the money he reaped), hated his employees and hated all high schools and their students. In fact, he only wished to exploit high school students by charging very high prices for his jackets and letters. Worst of all, Ebenezer especially hated Beacon High School and all of its students. He forbid his employees to wear blue and gold. He scoffed at the bulldogs. When anyone mentioned school spirit in front of him, he went into a rage. School Spirit? Bah, humbug! , Ebenezer would say. If I couldn't make a buck off them, I'd just as soon see all the little Beaconites school- spirit themselves into a frenzy and decrease the surplus population! . 3
