Oh no uRein Hot Rod in Collision H Reading no further I decided to make a trip down to the city hospital to see my former classmate, Leland Rein, whose ambition to the desk to find the room number of my injured friend I found the receptionist to be Donna Stieben who remained loyal to the services needed by her community Donna, having kept up her co respondence with several other friends, told me that Darlene Beltz is working in Hollywood as a private secretary to Sal Mineo I guess Darlene's com merce ability paid off Last month she became engaged to Hollywood's leading movie producer I learned from Donna that after finishing college at Fort Hays State, Ann Bowie took a position as kindergarten teacher in Hays I also learned that Kennith Kuehn reached his goal as a professional football player for the Los Angeles Rams I always knew Kennv would be a top player He wasn't chosen football captain in high school for nothing' My, I bet his parents are proud of him who wouldn't beq Kenny is still living a happy, single life Dale Marshall seems to have chosen his lifetime career, too After gradua tion from the School of Kansas State Highway Patrols, he was pleased to receive the job as chief of police in charge of the traffic depart ment in the city of Bazine Going around the corner to Leland's room, I was surprised to bump into Ardella Wittman, now head nurse at the hospital After graduation from nurse's training at St Francis in Wichita, Ardella was happy to come back to Bazine where her steady boyfriend is a doctor Visiting in the room of my former classmate was Ray Widiger, a mechanic for Re1n's Auto Racers Ray is preparing to take a more permanent job in Dallas, Texas Going home after my hospital visit, I turned the TV set to a Wichita station I was as surprised as I could be to see Shlrla Bitt ner who is now employed by her husband as a comedian on the Holmes' TV program Several hours later when I stopped at the football stadium gate to buy my ticket, I was surprised to see Clyde Stieben who is now the agriculture instructor at B H S The football game was a thriller with Coach Alan Antenen's team the victor Alan's team won the league football championship and is looking forward to taking another winning title in basketball . e t D as a had always been to be a hot rod driver. Once at the hospital I went 6 n It was getting late when I returned home Just as I was walking in the door the telephone rang I hurried to answer it and to my sur prise, it was none other than Sherell Mauth, now M s Linly Stum She had just arrived home for Thanksgiving vacation and had heard of my arrival Sherell and her family are now living on a large ranch near Towner, Colorado We decided to meet down at the drug store, our old meeting place, for a short chat before we called the night quits What an unusual car I saw parked in front of the store' Who should be standing by it but Roger Blehm, the inventor Soon after graduation he set to work to build a midget car with wings Since receiving the patent on lt, he has made millions Roger was here on vacation from his home in Miami, Florida As we walked into the drug store, I saw another familiar person gazing at the magazines It was Mary Waknitz, who after graduation from Kansas State went on with her home economics career, but not in any school She is living a happy married life in south Ness City After talking for awhile, I started home As I drove along, I thought about all my old classmates and of their careers My mind wandered back to my high school days when not one of us dreamed of what our life would be today in 1966 0 it 'f U fql 1.1- 1 J CLASS HISTORY In September, 1952 18 scared and green freshmen dragged up the sidewalks to B H S to begin their high school career Our class officers were President, Ray Widiger, Vice President, Sherell Mauth, Secretary, Shirla Bittner, and Treasurer, Carol Rowe For our first class party we went skating at Ness City Later on in the year we attended a movie at Ness City Our sponsor was Mr McMurray The sophomore year began with 18 members Shirla Bittner was elected cheerleader from our class, and was also attendant to the football and basketball queen We chose as our officers Kennith Kuehn, President, Clyde Stieben, Vice President, Leland Rein, Secre tary, Dale Marshall and Roger Stieben, Treasurer During the first semester we went to a show at Ness City, second semester we went skating at Rollin's Skating Rink Mr William Marsh was our sponsor Kenny McClintock transferred to Wichita his junior year and left us with 17 members Our class officers were President, Carol Rowe, Vice President, Shirla Bittner, Secretary, Darlene Beltz, Treasurer, Sherell Mauth, Reporter, Ardella Wittman We presented the play, nAre You Kidd1ng,n April 27, 1956 We entertained the seniors at a banquet, 'Over The Seas,' held in the lunch room May 5 Our class colors are blue and white and our flower is the white carnation We chose 'Let us attain what we pursue as our class motto Shirla Bittner was elected cheerleader from our class Mr Ed Brenner and Miss Lois Homfeld were our sponsors Our last year we had l? members We gave our senior play, UOff The Beam,n December 20, 1956 We had food sales and other money raising projects during the year Shirla was chosen Homecoming QHBGH and Peignad Over the Schoenchen football game Sherell Mauth and Carol Rowe were her attendants Kennith Kuehn was football king, Ray Widiger and Alan Antenen were attendants Class officers were President, Mary Waknitz, Vice President, Darlene Beltz, Secretary, Shirla Bittner, Treasurer, Sherell Mauth, Reporter, Ann Bowie Shirla Bittner was elected cheerleader Class sponsors were Mr Leo Wilkins and Miss Pat Strong I , - C C O 0 U I I .
