Dr. Samuel D. Moskowitz, Principal A product of the Newark, New jersey, public schools, Dr. Moskowitz received his undergrad- uate education at New York University and from there went on to Columbia University for his master's degree. He later returned to New York University for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy. Along the academic route, he picked up a Phi Beta Kappa key and became a member of Phi Delta Kappa, another national honorary scholastic society. In the course of his extended experience as an educator, he has been a teacher of social studies at De Witt Clinton High School, and chairman of the department at Franklin K. Lane High School. In further administrative capacities, he served as principal of Public School 154, Queens, Public School 70, Queens, junior High School 10, Queens, and junior High School 171, Brooklyn. Before coming to Bayside in 1952, he was the principal of Eastern District High School, Brooklyn. Outside of the school system, he has been a member of the school board of the Flushing Hospital Nursing School and on the Board of Directors of the Flushing YM 8: YVVHA. He wrote a textbook on American history and was, for six years, the editor of Strengthening Democracy, an educa- tional publication. Dr. Moskowitz is an ardent traveler and his credits as such include two visits to Europe. He usually spends his summers in the Adirondacks or in Canada.
